$50.00 is steep but I would be okay with that PROVIDING the money goes where it should and not disappear in Government coffers for their own Christmas party!!

My issue is that as of right now Gov. doesnt have a plan where it will go towards trails. I would hate to see it all go to the X country ski trails in K-County, Or to some horse project.
Why will motorized pay for all the trails?
How will the government get the other users to pay their $50.00 each?
Will $40.00 each be used for enforcement or will it be put into building and maintance.
Horses with licience plates?

I don't know alot about this area, okay actually squat. But for example with Trailseeker's, I think it used for grazing animals in the summer, I don't think it can be used for motorized toys in the warm months.
Maybe I am wrong ? (If I am don't tell Magnet)

Snow Monkey you are correct, the trailseekers use the Jack Pine Grazing reserve during the winter months under SPECIAL agreements with the Alberta Sustainable Resources department. There are lots of stipulations to the usage of this land and NO it is NOT quad friendly in the summer.

I would have to say I agree with you on this Glen. Those who have been apart of a snowmobile or ATV club and put their own sweat equity into building these wonderful trails we have now would know what it takes. Why should we open it up for everyone to use? Horses complain about quadders, quadders complain about horses, x-country skiers complain about sledders etc. I think every user group should be paying a portion towards the use of said trails. Is this not why the ASA has day passes for snowmobile trails @ $15 per day? and why ski hills charge for lift passes? why can't they be implemented for x-country skiers, and horse back riders?

Personally I'd love to see a licence plate bolted to a horses @$$

I think the last people we want to take money and use it for the trails is GOVERNMENT. It will enter into general revenue and they know the least of what, where, when, and how best to disperse the funds, nor can they be trusted. I'm not sure I have the answer, but I'm not a proponenet of having or trusting the government with anything let alone monies paid by honest working fun loving folk to help support their interests. Establish a non profit organization perhaps, with direct links to the Government for information and reporting purposes only, who would handle and direct monies to and where appropriate?? Or am I wet?? Not sure the gov't would entertain that proposal though. I'm sure there are better ideas out there than this, but just my $.02 if it's even worth that.

Good points and good ideas. If it goes to a trail group made up of trail users what garantee do we as motorized users that are doing all the paying into the fund be able to recieve funds. Seems like a good idea but how is it going to work? Rumor is that it will happen very soon but Government has no plan yet that we know of. I don`t want to pay when I dont know where it is going and how to get some benifit back from paying

We need lobby the government that we have a vested interest in this and wish to partake by making our concerns known, and our proposals put forward,to start. I understand it takes time and some effort but without trying we never make progress.

I was hoping others would have some opinions, ideas, etc. to bring forward.

Pay for camping. I know Trapper leas cabin its 10 bucks a night and good mudding.

Also hosting events is a good way to bring in D'oh for admission.

Could even set up a tip jar or something.. Donate if you love the sport. ;)

Now that I understand better what the trail fees pay for and the ASA fees goes partially to the Club that collects it. I know the Pembina Drift busters look after the Long Island Lake area (just as an example) why not a year round fee or pass. Would the ASA not look at OHV as an extension of their mandate. Yeah I know you are probably busy enough, sorry just putting it out there. Of course you still have the ignorant knuckleheads who don't give a rats a$$ about anyone else anyway(I feel a tangent coming on if I yap any further)
