A Revelstoke woman has died in a snowmobiling accident on a trail leading to the popular Boulder Mountain riding area.
The incident happened just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 30.
Police said the accident occurred about four kilometres up the trail leading from the parking lot on Boulder Mountain. The woman was descending the trail after a snowmobile excursion when she lost control on a corner and went over a 10-metre embankment and struck a tree.
Despite CPR efforts by other snowmobilers, the woman died on scene.
Staff Sgt. Jacquie Olsen said RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are continuing the investigation, but at this point the incident appears to be an accident.
Revelstoke RCMP are not releasing the name of the 37-year-old victim.
Apparently her name is Alana and worked at Zala's in Revelstoke.
Condolences to family and friends.
