So I sold my 2012 and figured i'd order up a new 3" from Curtis. first question he asks me is " do you have the extended chaincase"? I tell him no " i'm just using the 7 tooth drivers". He then says he wont sell to me because of too many warranty issue from guys only using the smaller drivers and each warranty claim costs him $100.

Thoughts?

where's the best ( cheapest ) place to buy the track and drivers? Other than these guys

Specialty $1229.00 for track and $399.00 for drivers.

Absolute Power $1300.00 for track and $350 for drivers.

I ordered my drivers for my old sledfrom avid directly. They were cheaper than Curtis and when I asked him if he would do a bit better on his price to make it comparable to avud's he was pretty rude. I now refuse to buy anything from him even if I save a few bucks.

hmm first ive heard of this but i could see it happening. i emailed him tonight to place an order for 3 tracks so i guess i will have my answer tommorow and let you know. guess i will be looking for a new supplier because there is no way in hell im spending an extra 1000 bucks for a mod that works perfectly fine without the extra g bill.

WTF you don't have to prove anything about your sled. He does or does not want to sell tracks. I'd tell him your drop and roll or extended chain case is in the mail.

i can see it being a PITA. i bet 80% of the 3" tracks sold go back for warranty. however i dont think its due to the drivers whatsoever. i think its improper cooling of the clips on the trail.

Curtis has stiffed me on one track warranty so far and the second will need to be sent threw another retailer, watch out for him... Winter brew or others sell tracks as well, and for the extended case.... He is wrong my last new 3 inch 162 put on late this spring lost a paddle in less than 100 miles.... They don't even make re 9116 anymore and the 174 three inch has been fine

I agree, if your burning your hifax something else is getting warm and heat MUST disperse. I just can't see that the tighter radius of the 7 inch drivers causing delamination.

are these track fully clipped?

He doesn't even have his tracks yet, and doesn't know when he's getting them. I got frustrated last week and decided I was just going to bite the bullet and pay the extra $200 and support locally.

my last one had two lugs missing. The track had 2000miles on it so I didn't even consider it being warranty.
( I may have run over a tree/stump/rock or two ) Out of the 4 guys that have 3" in our group mine is the only one that had any issue, and they all are on 7 tooth drivers.

This is what scares me away from the 3 inch. Would love it on the deep days but we ride in the spring to like most people and i dont wanna f*ck a new track.

I have one of the original ones, I think I have about 8 paddles missing now, honestly it still hooks up better than the 2.5 we have on the other sled

Re: Tracks Canada won't sell me a 3" track unless I install the extended chaincase?

Had issues with Curtis on warranty as well. Because he is not an authorized dealer and is a reseller for a US wholesaler the return shipping to camoplast has to go through place of origin, which is the wholesaler in the US. It is a large shipping bill and camoplast isn't known to honor a lot of warranty claims. This I the way it was 2 years ago so maybe things have changed. 3 seasons on my 174 3" on my t-nytro with 7t drivers. No issues, but I do take it easy on the trail.

At Mountain Magic we have the following tracks in stock ready to go:

162" x 15" x 3" paddle (9220M)

156" x 16" x 3" paddle (9225M)

162" x 16" x 3" paddle (9219M)

174" x 16" x 3" paddle (9115M)

We also have Avid Power Claw 7 tooth drivers in stock for both Skidoo and Polaris. There are no warranty issues with running 7 tooth drivers and we deal with a registered Canadian distributor. All warranty claims are dealt with by us through them as all Camoplast serial numbers we sell can be properly traced. Tracks are shipped back to Camoplast and they have the final say on the claim. (Some things are beyond our control). Phone (780) 474-9400
