Just wondering if anyone is going to check out or has purchased the tracking chip for their sled or quad? A friend of mine was telling me last season that he's considering becoming a sales person/installer. Sounds pretty cool. Chip about the size of a quarter is installed in a secure remote spot on the sled/quad and if it's stolen and can be located. If I remember right I think he said it would run about $400. Any experience with these yet?

I have been looking into a GPS unit the size of a cell phone. it cost about the same and will phone your cell or e-mail you if your sled moves. I will look into it a little more next month after the work slows down a bit!

I think there is a company doing that out of utah...........not sure* but i might have some info on it....they do the same as shaw tracking does without the big bill....I think they have* a monthly monitoring fee and you can log onto your laptop and use the gps function to locate it...........I'll try and find it and post the link.

Then we all end up like Brian Knight, well over a year from the "incident" and still nothing figured out in court!:nono: Not saying that I wouldn't do the same thing...

The tracking chip does sound pretty good though

Telus offers this service right now, not based on theft, but their fleet tracker program has small remote units that we put on our trailers as they seem to go 'missing' alot...

Can check and track location from your computer, and can set it to email or notify you if it moves...list it as a 'static' unit that isnt supposed to move, and as soon as it does it will email you.

Found 2 trailers moving off a pipeline so far even though the tow vehicles were in SK...We stopped them before they left the ROW...

Oh ya, 'Asset Tracker' is what the units are called...

There is a company that has a unit about 4"wide 7" long and 3/4" thick and this unit pings in 3-4 times a day and is battery powered mounts very easy and is easily hidden in the underside of your seat it goes for $300 and has a monthly fee of $25 The company I work for uses them. battery last about a year.

I wouldn't do anything. Not a thing. Not break his kneecaps, not roll him on razor blades and then pour salt on him, not slowly pull off his fingernails and toe nails. Nope, nothing.

When i bought my Harley from Heritage they asked me if i wanted a GPS planted on the bike, it was afew years ago so i don't remember the specifics but a great idea. Do you think the insurance company would give you a break on your policy if you had this device installed?
