Toyo MT in Alberta's winters

I am running two sets of copper discovery winters. One studded on the Escalade and the other not on my pickup. Pretty good tire I have found. Next set will probably be the same but studded on the truck.

I’ve heard really good things about theses tires. I ran Nokian LT2’s this winter, and honestly I was expecting better after having their Haka 7’s in another vehicle.

I like them because they have a bigger lug and spacing vs some other winter tires so they work well in deeper snow. When studded they work really really well IMO. You can def. notice the difference between our two vehicles when it is pure ice.

Firestone winter force studded have been ok so far. 2 winters out of them. Studs are worn pretty good now but tread is holding up. Lots of sipes and some spaced out mugs too for deeper snow. I bought these second hand with 5k on them roughly. Probably 25+ k now

Got my Toyos today. Glad I discovered that size. Nothing done to the truck and they fit perfect. 4000lb rating and as big as I can go without doing a lift or level. They are 34.5 by 11 wide. If anyone is looking for the Chev or gmc late model they make a few tires in the 295/70r18. No rubbing anywhere even on rough road and backing out of my driveway where they come the closest. My front winch bumper should be in tomorrow so once that is mounted I’ll probably crank the torsion bars a little to regain the height. Here is a pic if anyone interested.

I should mention to that to get these tires on they must be the factory rims. And change to width or offset and they will rub without a lift.

good to know. i have just acquired a duramax as well and the factory potato skins gotta go, here comes a burnout video!

Toyo ct's are a great tire, snow flaked and have great wear life. Have winter set on stock rims and summer set on rims. 35's 3500 dodge

I was also going to say the CT's are great, except the studs wear down too fast when you run them on a heavy duty truck due to the weight. I tried Duratracs and they were terrible for wearing too fast. That said they are fine on our 1500 shop truck. Next time I will give up on the studs and try to find an ice tire that is rated for the weight. An chance of finding that? I see cooper ice tires on commercial trucks and vans, maybe I will look into them.

Like I said I have cooper discoverer winter tires. One set studded and on my truck they weren’t. When they are done I’ll get them again but stud them just for that little bit extra traction on ice. They worked well for me.

I have an 03 f250 that came with the stock 16s and a set of stock 17s with decent duratracs. The 17's don't fit my year.... if you're looking for a set of rims/tires for the winter
