Town of taber new bylaw

Well, kid's spraying grafiti, or something of that nature would normally be charged with vandalism
I would assume.What right does a town council have telling a judge what the punishment or fine
should be? That's what provincial and federal law's are for.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying hoard's of "bad kid's" should be roaming the street's tearing shyt up,
but that's why we have law's and law enforcement.
People that want more law's, more law's,more law's are going to be our downfall. You want town council
telling you can't have a quad or sled club meeting without a permit? If that sound's good, then how about
you submit your new sled wrap design before they will allow you to put it on?
Cop's are spread thin enough already,they don't have the man power to investigate B&E's,ect,ect.
Now they should be investigating a 911 call for someone possibly spitting on the pavement in a parking lot?
If we had 1000 less politicians,we could prob afford 10,000 more cop's to enforce the law's we already have.
I for one would rather have less government not more.

While I don't totally agree with it maybe that is what is needed to clean up the place. By making these laws known public and in the press it is a step towards a more respectful town. The world is going downhill quick and it isn't going to get any better unless something is done. Parents don't discipline their kids any more and those kids won't discipline theirs. The chain continues......

If the law is in place, and someone breaks that law (even if it is completely ridiculous), what leg does said lawyer have to stand on?

A person could argue that they were perfectly within their rights and that the bylaw is an infringement on their basic rights. Besides, a person doesn't need to be innocent to tie up the court system.

there was talk last summer of re-enacting the curfew in Spruce Grove after several play grounds, porta-potties and newspaper boxes were set on fire over night, I'm in favor of it. There is no reason the RCMP or By-Law should have to sit and babysit these areas, where is the respect for public/private property today.

I'm not saying it was all kids (although it was only teens under 18 that were arrested and charged) but its rediculous there is ZERO reason for it.

there were lots of letters to the editor in the reporter/examiner from people who were not only supporting the curfew but encouraging them to bring it back into place.

I mean that's not really the "Be all end all" answer, but it would give police more authoritar to "clean up" the bored kids wandering around town. At the same time, all these kids have cell phones, so when they aren't home by X time why are the parents not phoning them and telling them to get their asses home?

There is no shortage of police in Taber, they have both town police and an RCMP detachment.
I'm surprised they haven't tried to change the name of the town to Tabernacle. #majorityrules

It all starts with the up brining of the kids.... Bottom line is the parents should be held accountable and maybe if they gave a shyt about their kids, this wouldn't be happening. Don't get me wrong i did my fair share of stupid stuff as a kid but never did we discrace public property or vandelize anything or beg for stuff at the local 7-11 and to me that was because my parents gave to shyts about us. JUST THIS GUYS OPINION THO!

Taber is an interesting place...I grew up in the area, and the majority of my family still live down there. These bylaws don't actually surprise me and I bet they don't surprise anyone who lives there or spends any time there. Taber and the surrounding area has mainly 3 different factions on people. The Mormons, the non Mormons, and the Mexican German Mennonites. If I were to take a guess these new bylaws have a lot to do with the last group of people mentioned. You go to town on a Sunday morning and there could be 50+ teenagers loitering in the Tim Horton's or civic center parking lot. Are they doing anything wrong? probably not, would the old ladies from faction A think so...absolutely. Has there been major problems with this group of people you bet, just Google grassy lake Mexican drug pipeline... So in closing I'm not defending these new bylaws by any stretch, (hell I could get wasted at Cornfest, yell, swear and spit on the street) and get thrown in jail lol, but I'm not surprised they are putting them in place to try and disburse some of the "gatherings" and the things that go on at them.

This pretty much sums it up. I'm 30 miles from taber and do business there multiple times per week. The mennonites are flocking to taber and surrounding towns in search of work predominantly in the Ag sector. Im not saying they are the only ones doing it, but taber and surrounding towns ethnic populations have changed drastically in the last 10 years and Some issues are arising from this.
