Hello All,

I've been experiencing a drop in rpm intermittently on my 2011 RMK Assault when holding the throttle wide open for extended periods of time. Still running the ethanol resistor in the sled, was wondering anyone else has experienced this. Sled has 350 miles on it and the problem seems to be getting worse.

Are you standing when it happens? Depending how you push on the throttle it may activate the emergency cut out the throttle lever. There are also some reports of the spark plug boots being loose and injectors cutting out. I'm having a similar issue with mine. I just dropped min off at the dealer to look at that and look at the park brake that is impossible to engage. Other than that the sled is working great.

Yes i'am standing when this happens now that you mention it. I never thought about the throttle position sensor, I wonder if it has to do with the angle the throttle is set at. Could maybe make it more parallel to push from a standing position. Although when it happens I blip the throttle a couple times and it usually clears up, only to do it again if I continue to hold it open. I haven't pulled my plugs yet to see what its doing but could be a bigger problem because mine seems to be getting worse from when I first got the sled.

I would suggest taking it into your dealer to look it over. The first thing my dealer asked when I told them about it was if I was standing. It seems they have been aware of this for a bit, and it sounds like there are some adjustments they can make if it is the issue. They should also check your injectors for any malfunctions.

And I thought that I was just getting weak in the wrist-same deal-park brake impossible to engage. I also had a loose spark plug boot.Ocassional drop in rpms during hard pulls.Last trip out,the primary was holding on to the belt at 1700 rpms and wouldnt dis-engage without blurping the throttle. I havent had a look to see what the issue is with that yet. Sure am liking this sled though. 7 trips to the mtns. so far.

I find park brake is only hard if sled has sat outside for the night but manageable once the brake warms up. I will have to check my spark plug boots, I hope it's not a motor issue.

get rid of the ethanol plug if your running non ethanol fuel. Mine bogged and hesitated alot when I had the ethanol plug in. Switched to the non ethanol one and it hasn't missed a beat!

Good to know that was going to be my next thought. The only reason I haven't put the non ethanol plug in was because I was unsure about my gas. I use 92 octane from Esso, does anyone know if this is safe without running octane boost?

Esso is fine, no issues.

i had the engine cut out intermittently on mine but what i think it was is that the engine was over reving 8400 rpm. threw heavier weights at it and cut out was gone.also gained track speed at 8000.

The Esso in my town has "may contain up to 10% Ethanol" stickers, right on all of their pumps.

Hmmm....thats why I'm not confident in my fuel our Esso stations do not have stickers. But is that just because they are to lazy to put them on? I don't think there is any regulations saying that they have to advertise if they use ethanol or is there?

I think as of the new year all gas has ethanol in it. Definately true for coop stations.

I've tried checking harness conections, new plugs, checked plug caps, a new shut off switch, new throttle safety switch and still does it. Dealer is working on it right now. Will try injectors and ecu. As for the park brake I could not engage it so took the lever off and groud off 1mm where it contacts plunger, now I can engage it better.

If Esso actually has ethanol in the fuel it doesnt seem to effect my sled with the non ethanol plug. Honestly I switched resisters and the hesitaion disappeared completley. Easy thing to give a try, takes 2 sec's.

Co-op fuels Anything that is regular or mid grade fuel will have ethenol in it as of March or April, but the premium fuel will not contain ethenol .This was told to me by my petroleum agent.

I saw a post on this on Snowest. It claimed it was the spark plug wires coming loose and also RK Teck said regap the plugs to 18 thou. will fix the problem??

I got a call from CW last night. They couldn't find any issues in regards to the high rpm cut out. Everything checked out fine. They are waiting for a response from Polaris about my brake. I should have more info today.

I had to take my brake lever off...... and do the filing .....to get it to lock on.
Works good now.
In B.C. chevron 94 is the only fuel I know of...... that contains no ethanol.
