Is it too early to start looking for a new to me used sled?
I've seen some good deals but not exactly what I want. I'm hoping to buy a pro RMK in the $7k to 8k range. There are some out there but the kilometres are a bit high.

In my experience now is primetime. Dealers are getting trades, peeps are selling there sleds before the new one gets here. I would move on it as the good stuff always goes first Mac.

If your looking to spend 7-8 grand on a 2011 and newer sled expect relatively high km.

The sled will be so hot that the skis will melt off, if you find a low km pro RMK for 7-8k lol. They are going for 95-11k right now and its just the start of the season. Wait till the snow flys!! up up up

I couldn't agree more with snopro. If you have a dealer that treats you good give him or her a call. They most likely will know what they are getting in for trades and let you cherry pick the one you want before they hit the show room. That's what I did with a 09 Summit from A&E. I picked it up the day the guy dropped it off. Win win for everybody.

ya i think you will be hard pressed to find one for that price range, dealers are giving more for a trade in, there is a nice one sitting in quesnel arctic cat that was traded in with a new motor (0 miles on it)

Like many others have said, this is the time to really start looking at used sled. As soon as the snow hit's locally, the prices will all jump up and people will get what they are asking for. If you really look around you might be able to find a 11 for 7-8 grand with low miles, but you would need cash in hand and be the first one there. I have a 10 Dragon 800 155, with 556 org miles, if I was to sell it I would be looking at $7500.00 which is high right now, but when the snow hits :D
Good luck in your search

It's like buying a boat or water craft in the summer, you will pay a premium. Now is probably the best time to buy, or at the end of the season. I wouldn't wait too much longer. However, there is always a deal to be had at anytime of year. It all depends on how long and how much you wait or look.

I've got a 2010 assault, with an intercooled boondocker turbo for sale. $8500.0
Has a fresh long block eng, with mntek fix kit, elec altitude compensation, mint shape.
Total miles are real low, have to check the cluster.
Got it a few years ago in trade I made. Already have a turbo pro, so it's just taking up space.

like others have mentioned, you prob wont find a sled for that price with low kms. as of today i am posting my uncle's snowchecked 2012 pro rmk 163' only has 400 miles and 25hrs. $10,000. if interested PM for details

I missed the deal of the year already. 2011 pro rmk with only 520 km's for $7500.
Oh well.

I've decided to go with lower km's and looked at a 2010 dragon with 800 km's in really nice shape.
Picking up the sled tomorrow for less than my original price range.

With higher km's I'd already be thinking about rebuilding the top end and concerned about shocks, suspension, etc.
Coming off a 900 rmk, I know how this sled will handle and with the added bonus of a 163 over my 151 track.

I'd like to pull the cord and ride this year.

Off to the sled show In couple of weeks to find some shocks to replace the stock Walker Evans on the front and some running board inserts.

Thanks for replies. It definitely helped my decision.

Thanks but I'm avoiding turbos.
I know absolutely nothing about them or how to maintain them. I'm sure it would pull my arms off but trees are already doing that for me. With a stock sled I know my limits. With a turbo I'm sure there would be more "let's just see if..." decisions happening.
I did pass this on to a friend though.

Not trying to poke the hornets nest here but...it sounds like you've waited this long to buy a used sled and you want one that you'll be happy with.

Do you know the history/recalls/issues with the 08-10 Poo 800's? Do you know about the "Fix Kit" for these motors?

Personally I would spend the extra $ and get into the newer chassis and slightly more reliable motor in the Pro Ride.

There are lots of sleds on the market now, but this isn't a good time of year to find a good price.
