Being that McDonalds has been serving what was previously Tim's blend of coffee which they stopped using over a year ago, I would take the current McD's over Tim's new cheap blend given the choice.

Mother Parker's supplies a blend to McDonalds that was basically the same as the previous Tom Horton's blend before they switched. It likely didn't help that Burger King purchased Tim Hortons, ever have a Burger King coffee? AssWater

The US McDonalds coffee is a different supplier though. One of the reasons WestJet serves McDonalds coffee was because of their moved to the beans that TimHortons used to use.

There was a discussion by a Tim Hortons franchise owner on reddit that said the supplier wasn't allowed to give McDonalds the exact blend/roast of bean that Tim's used because of previous proprietary restrictions so it was tweaked slightly for a smoother result. Everything about Tim's roasting their own beans and the time line of when McDonalds McCafe became an actual decent coffee lines up. I would even go as far as saying the McD's blend is better than the original Tim's blend. People just recal how bad the boiling hot coffee was at McD's years ago but honestly if I am travelling I have no problems getting one.

I don’t like Tims coffee, never have. The dark roast is a bit better and I’ll have that if there’s no other option. I’d choose McD above Timmy any day.
