Throttle block loose.

Hey guys , looking for some input. My throttle block has become extremely loose (even more so than factory). I can tighten it up fine and it will hold, but then my throttle sticks . If i back the tightener off so that its really loose, the throttle will by fine , but the block is really floppy and then will even go into limp mode (assume due to the tps switch).

Has anyone come across this? And any suggestions to fix?

Common problem on the 13's. Best way to fix it is take the 2 pieces apart and get them snapped back together properly. Otherwise you might have a runaway sled on your hands. I know a certain fella on this site that just about watched his brand new 13 take off without him at full throttle in my front yard!!!! That was exciting. Hence the importance of your tether. Ultimate fix is throw that POS away and replace it with an aluminum RSI.

Thanks TDR, If I go with an aftermarket aluminum throttle block, does it have a spot for the tps switch?

I used a thick black tie strap with a couple wraps of rubber tape to stop it from coming apart and the problem went away cost about 50 cents.

Put the head of the tie wrap under the throttle block and trim the excess off with an exacto knife.

I said rubber tape but i guess i used vynil. Stretch the first wrap and then dont stretch the 2nd..or last wrap because it will eventually want to peel back.

Thanks for the pic Vance. I will give that a go next week. Mine is good right now but I'd like to do this so I don't run into issues down the road.

I noticed you have a poo riser bag, did you use the velcros that run parallel to the bars? On mine I just used the 2 that go around the lower bar, it has been good for me but I usually only carry thin gloves and goggle bags in the riser bag

I just used the 2 velcros straps at the bottom. I carry snack bars in the front and 2 beer in the back, hasnt ever come off.

Just did this to my 13. The tyrap seems to help keep er tight for sure!

I do the same thing on all my Polaris sleds. I use a heavy metal core zip tie as tight as possibly around the block and havent had the problem again.
