Bye Bye warranty

Not true. Skidoo has to honour the warranty for people running the interceptor oil. There is a 16 page study on ams oil interceptor vs XPS full synthetic. Ams oil was the better oil and that is why BRP now legally has to honour the warranty. I know there will be a few guys in disbelief but the study was done on 2 identical skidoo's with a complete tear down after the torture test and the results were surprising. I'm switching to ams oil in a heart beat. A lot cheaper as well if you have an account set up with them.

The only thing worse than a aftermarket oil thread is a aftermarket can thread. Every year we go over this. A simple search on Google will open a snowstorm of info on both topics.

I wouldn't run amsoil just because of how they go on how awesome there product is and that article is a perfect example of it. Royal purple is another product that's snake oil imo.

I've been running oem oil ever since I started sledding and never blew a engine yet. I sold a Indy 400 with 23000 miles on it and the comp was still good in it and is saw Polaris oil all its life.

Run whatever oil a fellow feels comfortable with. I am. I buy my doo oil in bulk so it's cheaper anyway. BTW there is no warranty act in Canada and the U.S. Act says the manuf has the right to void the warranty if the aftermarket product is the cause of the failure.

we have cats and have always run yamilube.... there was an oil thread on here where a dude actually broke down the chemical compositions of different oils blah blah blah....

It's a lubricant, some people will swear by one over another but in the end they all do the same thing....lots of guys on here swear by the shell stuff at crappy tire for $36 jug.

I get my yamilube cheaper than that and it's "dealer recommended"

Joes power valves are cleanest on amsoil and bobs are cleanest on doo and Dicks are cleanest on shell
Joe blew 2 motors on shell BOB has always used amsoil with no issues and Dick cratered a motor on yamilube

as many opinions as there are brands

I read all 52 pages of the chemist wright up and stopped using amsoil due to the low break down rpm and was surprised to see how many oils claimed full syn but weren't I have been using royal purple snow c-2 due to it doesn't use a detergent but I haven't head any failures due to oil type that I can remember and I'm from the east I took my sled to school put 32000k on a sx600 using the cheapest oil at gas station where I got fuel so don't think type is as important as just making sure it's in there

So I guess none of you actually read the documents you were signing when you purchase your new snowmobile. That box you initialled saying only to use xps synthetic oil to maintain warranty. Sure maybe brp has to honor warranty because it meets specifications but I'm thinking as soon as you sign it's a different ball game

Thx for the opinions.
I didn't mean to open up a can of worms that big. I have a case of ski doo oil.
I'll use it and then see from there.
Thanks again

Gotta follow directions, no mods no changes, Like maxwell says , Except of course a can and no snow flap, those are acceptable. Lol.

Soooooooo............just where is the BRP refinery located anyway? :smiliestirthepot:

with a "contract" like that I am surprised that BRP doesn't double the price of seeing that you "have" to use it

It's expensive enough. Liquid gold

but why not charge more, you have to use it or void your 4yr warranty.....

I am commenting on only what I have read here, I have not seen or read the said paperwork,

Refinery? Lol try a lab where it's mixed. All synthetic oils start off with a base stock call a PAO, (this is just a acronym) than its mixed to manuf recommended blends. I have no idea if brp contracts out their blend or actually make it themselves. A company like brp, bombardier etc, making planes, trains and snowmobiles lol I wondered if they actually have their own lubes division.

I said a company like BRP, Bombardier etc. at the end of the day is the same company as a whole, just a different division.

Guess you didn't read my whole post

there is a law that states that you do not have to use a manufacturers oil to be covered by warranty. Its called the magnusen-moss act.

As long as the oil you are using meets or exceeds spec you are covered. Its against the law for them to try to tell you that you will void your warranty if you dont use their oil specifically. Amsoil, shell, yamalube etc etc. all meet the spec. There are probably over a dozen different type oils that meet specs that you can use. Mystic, redline etc.

They can recommend the use of their oils only.

and if you read your manual or look at the decals on the sled they all say that they "recommend" the use of their oils in the motor and chaincase
