Ive got a 1992 Chevy Silverado 1500 Ex. Cab Shortbed that has a V6. Not your first choice for towing but it does get 19 miles to the gallon on the highway and i purchased it from the original owner. Instead of
trying to haul 4 sleds on a 4 place I was thinking of keeping my 2 place trailer and making the Half ton a flatbed. I was hoping to equal out the weight a bit between truck and trailer and also shave some weight rather than adding a sled deck on top. lert me know what you guys think ??

put a load on it and you will see that mileage drop below 10mpg. you're going to be overloaded on the half ton with 2 sleds

There is no way you will ever be within your GVW with this configuration. Two sleds on the truck alone is overweight not to mention trailer tongue weight.
Good luck.
