I always keep all my gear in big bins - makes it easy to load / unload, and keeps it all clean and dry. There's usually a few jerry cans in there too so it all works well. I wouldn't say it's sealed, but the bins stay clean and dry.

Lets put it this way. I'd throw my duffel bag under there in the winter, but I'd probably put my wife's in a garbage bag or something.
