My husband is selling his Klim Tek Vest- worn maybe three times. Brought to the mountains several times and left in the truck :( He has finally admitted that he will never wear it and is putting it up for sale. PM me if you are interested!!

I wear a six-six-one coresaver and kneepads on EVERY trip! My knees were so badly bruised that they were perpetually black and blue and brown ALL the time. I started to get chronic knee pain and inflammation in both knees and my doctor said "ENOUGH!". I have found that wearing the protective gear has helped improved my confidence and my willingness to go bigger :) Totally worth it. I will admit tho- sometimes I miss the shock factor of my many colored bruises: so cool at parties!!

tks for the offer. I tried the vest thing myself a while back and to be honest I understand why your husband doesn't wear it. On the other hand why dont you sell me your kneepads :) My latest injury is a dandy! Leg is black and blue and still swollen after a week.

Peeps who don't like the bulk of the actual Tek style vests have been buying these Troy Lee Design Chest protecors which have a unique composition to take impact but maintain a lightweight feel. I can find the particulars if you need.
I wear Fox Knee shin protectors. They have saved me many times.

Looking at what my group is doing and knowing that I am going to have to do the same. It is funny listening to me either convincing myself to do it or reasons not to do it. But the hardest for me is after a wreck your confidence is shot, and the next climb, or sketchy spot you have to go through the whole thing again convincing yourself you can do it. On the flip side of this the confidence boost you get after a wreck when you just kinda say "frick it" hit it hard the feeling is awesome....

I am what is known as a "ganglebot" and despite being close to 6 feet, my knobby knees and bony shins only fit into kids' knee/shinguards... I don't know if they are gonna work for you... Sorry :(

So, I've noticed a few people saying that have reservations about the clutch-side side-hill. Is that a right-handed / left handed mental issue, or something else? I'm right handed, but have always found it easier to side hill on the clutch side... but that may be due to the Cat "right side bog" lingering effects.

Laying on my back in the snow after running out of talent yet again thinking "5 years ago I coulda done that!" The desire's still there, but the reaction time has gone to shite! How the heck did I get this old?

And watching my son hesitate where he didn't used to after getting trapped under his Nytro on a climb last year. I think that one shook him up.

Flat light, absolutely hate it.

Zero visibility and knowing theres some serious cliffs/drops around, makes a for a slow going and tense ride back to the trail.

Had my glasses break on the hill once, talk about a confidence robber even if I'm only slightly near sighted.

And for some reason, big down hills that you can't see the bottom even though they aren't that steep to begin with. Not being able to see the runout really messes with my mind, not sure why.
