I read Lytton fire was started by the train.

I should have copied that article that popped up that said it was arson, i cannot find it anymore. They say it is still under investigation. Edited ....the fire was caused with in the village of lytton ... so no way it was a train.

Yup, that was on the radio today... two people were definately killed by the fire, but several people still missing. They said witnesses saw sparks/flames from one of the train cars wheels. There was no other flame paths anywhere around the town, before this.

My buddy was trying to get jet fuel in there the night it burnt and wasn’t allowed in. When he finally talked to his forestry contact he was told there was deaths and the whole area was being locked down as a crime scene. The other day they brought in forensic teams so there is more to come on this fire.

Well the other fire at Lytton that was deliberately set ....lord knows why!!! Here is the guy that set it, i am not sure if his trial verdict is in or not. It’s embarrassing to watch…..the media reports on the number of wildfires, hyperventilate when they quote the number of hectares, then act relieved when they say that there are 47 firefighters and 2 helicopters working to contain the fires…..
Then they pan to the local volunteers with both their trucks as the poor bastards do their best to do what should be handed by a huge provincial response…..
Contrast that to what happens in the states…similar fires in California, Arizona or Montana would have multiple specialist Hot shot crews, hundreds of trucks and heavy equipment and dozens of aircraft and helicopters.
Provincial governments in Canada place no value in our forests and the rural towns and properties located there. They constantly think they can trade space for time and the fires will eventually burn themselves out with minimal cost and effort. Then fires like Ft mcmurray, slave lake and now litton happen and everyone stands there with a shocked look on their faces.
It’s long past time for the provinces to band together and create a seasonally available, large, well equipped and trained quick reaction organization that can move lots of equipment, aircraft and put sufficient boots on the ground quickly to deal with fires before the get so huge they can’t be handled.
