Pullujaarvi looking better every game... I think he'll pair with mcd for long term with lucic... Notice how last nites game, there wasn't really a retaliation for bennings hit on mackinnon... In the past there would have been all kinds of disruption, but i think more teams are actually respecting the oilers size now.... Nurse stood in front of benning 3 or 4 times last nite, expecting some trouble, but none was to be had

I'm also liking Puljujarvi, but man, I wish the kid could stay on his feet. Needs to learn to play front his back and knees.

He is far from having issues staying on his feet compared to Taylor Fall. That guy couldn't stand on his skates to save his life. So happy I don't have to watch him any more.
No one will ever be happy with the return of a top scoring first overall for a unproven Larsson but never the less the team is better today and that is one of several reasons.

i agree.... Added size and grit and shored up the defense nicely. Russel is a pleasant surprise too.... 10 - 3 - 1, with russel in the lineup..... Lost 5 straight without russel

Neither do I. I think people forget there is always a losing end on a trade. Rarely do both teams win as far as a players offensive value. The team needed to improve the blue line and not take a lot of salary in return. Larsson will likely be a bargain and is signed through till 2021.
One of the guys earning 6 mill had to go. Lucic was signing and other guys need to be signed. Eberle would be my next guess who goes in the off season for a either a cheaper option or someone who plays a heavier game.
Ference will finally come off the books. Draisaitl will be looking for a decent raise. Someone like Russel might be looking for a 3-4 year 3.5 mill and the team will likely try and lock him up sooner than later if they feel he can continue his current play. Pouliot will earn his way into being bought out.
The first overall pick will be involved in a trade for someone's rights, maybe Parayko, or Toffoli. And then guys like Oshie, shattenkirk, Franson, are all UFA's and if not signed will get good pay days and Edmonton could use any of them.
PC has the pieces to make moves and is not scared to do so to make the team better. Anyone willing to trade both Taylor And Tyler has big ambitions. Lol.

I was vehemently against the trade. I was actually devastated. For more personal reasons that just the hockey trade.
I was never a hockey fan, I mean, I grew up in a house where it wasn't considered a sport unless it had an engine, until I met my husband in 2008. By the 2010 draft, I was really into it. That was the first year I watched the draft and was Team Taylor all the way. That was also the first year that we had season seats. The way I looked at it was that we kind of entered the league at the same time. (the human condition - always looking for some sort of connection even if there isn't one)
Anways, my love of hockey, and the obsession with it grew, and he grew too. Went from a lippy little 18 yr old to a man sized play driver. On nights that we spent an exorbitant amount of money and watched the team take a steaming shiit on the ice, he was at least exciting, I looked forward to his shifts and that ensuing chaos.
That said, Larsson has stepped up into a pretty tough situation and has surpassed all my expectations. I was gonna stick with him, because gingers need to stick together, but I am quite pleased with his play and physicality and that takes the sting out of the trade.

See, and when I saw the steamer on the ice, I always thought it was the puck hog himself. I guess people see/judge things differently...
Maybe I was just so freakin pissed at the team in general, I just took it out on Hall, cause he was the "leader".

Hall isn't injury prone as much as being a little reckless. He doesn't have the size to play like a bull in a China shop as he did in junior against junior players.
In the NHL his one dimensional play of rushing down the boards lead to him taking a lot of body that he couldn't dish out in return. That if anything lead to injury.
He played every game last season. Did miss decent time the season before but only 7 games the season before that.
Still a top player in the league but I have never been a fan. Thankful to have McJesus!

As much as I want to see Edmonton destroy Calgary, those damn Flames have found ways to keep the score sheet in their favor against the Oilers for longer than I like. Not having Larsson tonight when he was playing decent minutes will be tough as Davidson has looked shaky. The 3rd and 4th lines need to wear down the Flames and the 2nd line actually needs to do something. One scoring line right now is not enough to play good defensive teams.

As far as tonights game goes, if Brossoit gets the start, 2-1 loss for Oilers,if Talbot starts a 3-1 victory.
Against Calgary, in Calgary, Edmonton has 3 wins(?) on the season, the 4th and final game goes to Calgary 5-2.

Ahhh okay. I'm going to go out on a limb and say we win tonight with scoring not goaltending. I'll say 4-2 which will include an empty-netter. Tomorrow I think it will be harder on Edmonton but that it will be a closer battle. 3-2 Edmonton in OT. In both cases, the whiskey loses significantly
*EDIT* I guess I should be more clear... when I say "we win"... I'm an Oiler's fan, I just live in Calgary lol
