One of the greatest and proudest Canadians to ever live. They are woven into the fabric of Canada. Sad day for all Canadians. Raise a glass tonight to one of Canada's greatest ambassadors, to Gordie! God speed and thanks for all the great music

Kind of shocking the threads that get countless posts on this site and so few here. Sad day, RIP Gord Downie

Documentary on tonight. Was going to be released November 12th, but they decided to release it this evening.

I remember first seeing them at the Atha B in Jasper, before they were ever big. Best buddy worked security for them at a U of A concert, back in October 1989. He was 18 and says it's one of his better memories.

Good times!

Saw a post elsewhere on Wednesday "Sorry other countries. Canada is closed today. There has been a death in the family." Been a few tears shed over the last few days. Gord was a very special friend to so many of us... the Hip's music lives on!
