Teth-Air is a wireless tether system for your sled or quad. This seems to be a very innovative product. Hooking up the Tether cord on my Turbo sled is a must, and I always worry about it screwing up from too much moisture as its in the snow and sun all the time. Plus you have that cord always that has caused some issues. So I contacted Source Innovations Ltd. and inquired about getting a Teth-Air.

I installed this product in less than 10 minutes from the time I opened the box to the time it was ready to run. With minimal tools as well. The main unit has long slots to make it easy to fasten under your hood. I used zip ties to the front headlight support, then ran the wires, one to the ignition and the other to ground. Then the two remaining to the kill switch wires. And hooked the antenna up and it was ready to run. Oh, and put a fresh battery that is available at just about every store. The Battery goes in the bracelet unit. The unit on the sled is powered when you turn your sled on. You need to program your wristband to the unit but that takes seconds. And your ready to ride.
So I took this for a small day trip and wow! this thing is great! Except every time I got on my sled to start it I was looking for my tether cord to clip it in. I have not yet set the distance with the antenna, and have it at the stock setting at about 12' from my sled it shuts off. I will most likely set it at about 8', and if you have an issue you can put your arm behind your back and cut the signal off. You do this by simply cutting about 1/8 to 1/4 inch off the antenna then reinstalling the cap.
I will try this in the mountains and give you my thoughts. But so far this seems like a great product.

Thanks for the info RK, I reviewed this product as well - the only concern I have is...what if you roll or fip over on your seld, or with your seld, and end up underneath it. Will the signal be broken to shut off the sled so your track does not chew ya up if the throtle is forced open?

at least when you move away from the controls with a standard tether, the sled shuts off...I would like to hear more about your testing please.

I'll field this one, as we have them on our sleds as well.

If your body gets between the tag and the antenna, even at short range, the sled will shut off. The overall range can also be shortened by clipping small pieces off of the bar-mounted antenna. So if you and the sled are making love coming down a chute, the odds of the sled shutting off are very good.

It's a product I would definitely recommend, as my diligence in clipping on the coily style tethers is less than stellar.

Will avoid the ghostrides, can't avoid the rollovers.... :D but I guess you can take comfort in the fact that your sled won't be running when it steamrolls over you. ;)

sounds like a great set-up. I broke my kill switch on the bars by trying to be superman, and now bent the key doing the same thing. if my key breaks I have no way of turning the engine on and off easy. How much $$$$?

How does it work with your existing tether and if you have a Doo with DESS?

I believe you leave the original tether in place and or strap to your bars, this unit is seperate and would imobilize the dess as well if seperated from sled.

just e-mail chris from teth air he will answer quickly I am sure....

Has anyone tested it to see if it interferes with your avy transciever? I know some cell phones and most i-pods will mess with your beacon signal.

Hadn't had any issues yet, this unit works great. The only issue I had so far is I put a cheap battery from Shoppers and I went out 1 ride and it was great, second ride 2 weeks later it died on the second day. Ive since then put a good battery and take it out between trips and its fine. It needs some kind of on/off button but you would need a weatherproof one and something that cant just be hit off. This is in the wrist band. I now carry an extra battery with me when sledding. Have not had any issues with the quality of the product, the wristband and the unit are built well.

The Teth-air does not interfere with the DESS system, original tether or kill switch, it just adds the extra Cordless Teth-Air feature.

The beacons run at 457 kHz and th Teth-air at 2.45 gHz and at 1/100 the power of a cell phone. We haven't been able to make them interfere as much as we have tried to find any weaknesses.

have you come up with a on/off switch set up for it? was wondering if this year there is a new version? price still 275?

They are $299.00 each and the switch is not necessary for the transmitter as the battery last 6 month+. If you want a switch to shut off the system, you can cut any of the 4 wires that are used for hook-up.

If you simply loose your transmitter tag, we have a button press by-pass procedure that you can follow so you can still ride. :d

See you at the Edmonton show in the Specialty Sled booth!

come and say hi!

Actually the show special last year was $299 and the regular price was to go to $325 but we held the price. For forum members we are paying the freight or we will be at the Edmonton show and hopefully Calgary too.

We have Chris Burandt, Sam Rogers, and Brett Tercott testing this season. Phil Yribar also is running one.

Thanks for the offer.
