Long story short there’s about 1000 gallons of diesel at work that I can have for free. Problem is I’m unsure of the quality. Does any one know who could test it for me if I sent them a sample?

Sounds something like the cheap will come out expensive. But I know 10 year old diesel will run in a yamaha bravo and not hurt the engine. Great for killing mosquitoes enough smoke you would think there was a forest fire. The grandson run an hour on this. Something I would have never believed unless I seen it first hand

Freesel, if aquired at the right place can be OK but if it's origins are unknown I would suggest that all it's good for is starting fires.

My 06 5.9 had almost 600,000 km on it when it went to auction. Probably ran on 85% friesel. Was still running strong.

Pump it through a water blocker filter and blend it off slowly with new, throw in some additive.

These guys do fuel polishing if you want to get it tested. The are in Saskatoon

As mentionied get a transfer pump with good filter setup, 2 filters like a fasss system and let it buck.
Suck from the top and leave the last little bit as might be water, the good stuff will be on top.

Pretty easy system to make up for a $100 I would do a BF 971 first then a BF 956 water absorber common spin on bases pump from one tote to another or as you consume.. I love free fuel..

Thanks for all the advice guys. Does diesel get old like gasoline does?

It does but not nearly as bad as fast. I would do the above filtering procedure with a quality additive blended in and then if you like you can get it tested.
