Has anybody have a good recommendation for a company that recognizes backcountry sledding for what it is and not a holy sh1t you ride snowmobiles. I'm looking into life insurance and they want me to pay $3/$1000 of coverage. Which works out to a lot of cash on a large insurance policy.

I have one, used it to insure our mortgage. I am working nights tonight but will try and remember to look at the papers when I get home.

Are you absolutely set on term life insurance? I could give a great recommendation/referral for universal life coverage if you're interested?

I have my life insurance through co operators and they were fine with snowmobiling in the mountains as long as you did not partake in "high marking". had to sign a waver saying if i died while doing it i have no coverage, but it kept my rates low.

If you sign a waver what's the point in telling them anything.

Just switched to Sun Life. Snowmobiles didn't come up, they focused on Scuba Diving... Best rates I could find for a mill coverage.

My first quote was for Sunlife. I would ask what happens if you were killed while riding a snowmobile. I bet you would be surprised to find out what they say. I'm being up front with everything I'm telling them cause I don't want to leave my wife and kids with nothing cause the insurance company denied them.

Not fully disclosing what you actually do doesn't mean the insurance company is good with it. It's called the fine print.

I looking for 2 mil coverage and A LOT of question come up.

I'm under sunlife. My premium went up because of snowmobiling.

When I went for life insurance with primera about 25 year ago or more, I answered all their questions, and wasn't cheap. Occasional drinker, cigar smoker, motorbikes, sledder, demolition derby etc etc.... Had blood tests and was in.... Cheapest for largest amount of coverage ;).... I would seriously hate to see what my life insurance would cost now, if is was to switch companies

I'm with Sunlife as well. Asked my agent about snowmobiling, and she said no issue, AND I read all the fine print. Seems I'm good to go. Just hope it's not for a decade or 5.

your agent doesn't make the final answer on your claim. SunLife wanted $10000/year over and above the normal rate on mine.

At what age should a guy start looking into this life insurance business?

That's kind of a personal choice, but if you have a family, you should certainly look into it. If you're single, you don't really need to leave anything for anyone. I will tell you one thing tho, the younger and healthier that you are, the cheaper the insurance will be.

yup, and like the insurance company i went with, most don't raise the rates as you get older, if you stick with them. If you leave them, guaranteed it will cost more if you switch companies or rebuy later in life....

As soon as your out on your own IMO .
It's plain selfish to leave loved ones with bills if you should pass.
Even a small policy to cover funeral expenses and any acquired debt.
Increase as required for mortgage's , family and other things.
Reduce again as debt load decreases if a person wants.
Talk to a couple different financial advisers and see what works for you.
The younger you are the cheaper to get started.
Once you have the policy they can't take it away if you should get sick later in life " say cancer"as long as you keep premiums paid.
Just about impossible to get insurance after a serious sickness .
I have had a policy since I was 15 but each to their own.
My 2 cents
