That is the biggest crock of BS I've read in quite a while. Good on the teacher!

It is funny that that is exactly what I used to doo. "not enough work done to evaluate, therefore a 0%". For God's sake, it the student hands in zippo, hadda, nothing, what is the teacher to doo????

Friggin' system! Sure hope it doesn't screw up his pension.......

Cripes man! What use is school if it doesn't resemble anything in real life? Are we seriously teaching them that they can goof off all they like and they'll get by just fine? I always wished I'd had kids, but chit like this makes me wonder if I could handle it without going postal from time to time.

No different than the court system!Poor criminals!!The hard working kids will grow up and have to feed those lazy ones with their hands out!!I have 3 kids in school (grades 8,5,2) and you wouldn't believe the bulls... those teachers have to put up with! The kids that get the 0's have, more than likely, have azzholes for parents!I've seen the kids like that have their parents come in and light into the teacher for getting after their kid even though the kid did something wrong!Small town school and the parents doing this are the same lazy douche bags that were slackers when I was in school!I brought my kids up to respect the teachers and any adults and the teachers all love them and they don't even have to be their pets! All I have to do is drive around town and show my kids what being an azzhole in school gets you!!Hard work gets you farther in life than being the class clown with crappy marks and parents who don't know when to cut the cord!!

The wife and I are in full agreement that kids today don't get a taste of real life till they get out there and get a shock of a lifetime, some kids just can't cope so they sit in the basement playing their playstations and Nintendos til they are mid twenties or early thirties yikes! Serves that teacher right trying to teach a life lesson to a student. The school board is saying it is more complex than that, in other words who is the girl related to??? HMMMM. I smell a rat. :suspicious:

When I heard this on the radio today........I couldn't believe it. They always seem to want to push the kids through these days. What happened to kids learning and getting an education. Obviously this teacher is trying to show the efforts certain kids are putting in, show parents what their children are doing............and now he's punished. I think it is totally wrong. I am very lucky with kiddo's school, they call if there's an issue, or send out letters warning a child is failing a course, they are very hands on and there for the kids, and I totally appreciate that !!! Nice to see some teachers working for the kids and not the system !

My son is in grade 12 and graduating in 1 week. We have to constantly ask him if he has any home work due. He is a smart kid and is as interested in school as I was (not very). His work is quite often late and only handed in when we hear it is past due. At interviews with the teacher, she said they can't dock marks for work handed in late, even if it is 2 months late they still get marked. Consequently he is in no hurry. Good system!!

So how do we change this system? We are faced with the same stupid system here. It is possible to make a change on a province wide scale. All it takes is someone to start it and have the grit to keep going or in the case of the GST over here, someone with the will to be in the political spotlight one last time as in Mr. Vanderzalm ;).

Seriously though this can be changed, but the only way is with a massive push from the voters.

Makes me feel old, was still zero's and none of this new BS when I graduated and that was in 07. If you don't do it, it should be a zero plain and simple. I can understand allowing things to be late and get the marks but should be penalty for late that's always what I had.

First it was give kids a head start, now they call it no child left behind, loosing ground and quick!

School is still so much easier though then the real life. Even with 0's you can still choose not to do it and get by. Not happening in a job.

Can't believe they'd suspend him so close to the end of the year to. And the school board thinks they act in the kids bests interests? How is it to suspend a teacher weeks away from the end of the year?

The only policy I could get behind is if they just started grading on tests only, and left assignments with no marks and just kept track if completed or something.

The school board is fawked though, they just want good "stats" to look at. I still get pissed when I think when happened with me in junior high with the school board and a case of them wanting to look good, not look out for what's best for the kids.

Far as i'm concerned, if they preform well on tests, not much else matters.

I am at a loss for words to describe how incredibly asinine this is! When we had a meeting with my sons teacher last year about him possibly failing grade 1 the teacher told us that they don't fail kids anymore, it is bad for their self-esteem.

I get to deal with how dumb kids are every day at work! this kid i work with is 21. has a better education then me. on paper... gets paid the same wage as me... but he spells like hes in grade 4 and cant do simple math without a calculator or his friggen iphone! hes just dumb. pushed through the system. He can't focus for more then 2 minutes without checking his facebook or his text messages. When asked to take notes in a safety meeting he doesn't... then wonders why he is getting yelled at from the boss because he's texting and facebooking and blogging and tweeting when we are talking about things that will save his life or someone elses!!!

The system is screwed and our kids kids are screwed!!! thats my rant!

Imdoon' was pushed through school so fast, and look how he turned out HAHAHA damn I couldn't help myself... Seriously though, the system needs to teach kids about the woes of credit, taxes, and the cost of groceries today... Good grades are just freely handed out today! Glad I didn't grow up in the era where teachers could beat the kids, I would a been getting my knuckles ratched alot lol!!!

and that is why we have the problems we have today. I was scared to act up in school because of the consequences. I believe that they should bring back the strap to school and the rope to the justice system.
