I thought I would get rid of the rack and big tail light on my 05. I got a smaller one from an XP and put it on, but the cluster brake lamp stays on. Has anyone else rewired these?

You may need to wire in a resistor. Something to do with the resistance in the circuit trips the light in the cluster.
When I replaced mine on my '04 with an LED, it already had the resistor built into the light. Not sure if there is a difference is the bulb wattage between the XP and Rev bulbs but this may be your problem.

Thats the weird thing, it already has a resistor built in The 05 tail light has a 3 wire plug and a 2 filiment bulb and the XP assembly has a groung. 2 whites on the bottom resistor red on top and a 2 wire plug witha single filiment buld I will get some pics

Honestly, I don't think the XP one will work for you without alot of wiring changes-if it works at all. I think you might have better luck with the light off of an '07 x model 800R. I think it's different from the XP. Or just go with a custom led like I did.

What kind of an led did you put on? The light on my Sons 07 looks the same and is wired the same as an XP

Hmmnnnn unless you wired it wrong, maybe it would work on a Rev..........Does the light work and your only complaint is the light in the cluster being on now? Another thing is the Rev's were known for the switch for the brake light acting up. It was a mechanical part in there if I remember correctly that was causing grief. Maybe do a search either here or on Dootalk.com and you might be able to find it-or maybe someone on here may remember more about this.

I got my light from Mountain Mod in Creston BC. Mountain Mod LED's
I only used one and really I only did it so on the trail home I don't get rear ended. You may want two to make it a little more visible-your call. I had no issues with the cluster light.

Yes this is my only issue. I have spent some time on BRP Parts and comparing wiring harnesses. It seems after 09 they went back to a 3 wire bulb. I cant find any different bulb plugs

It may be an issue with your switch then. Have you tried hooking the stock light back up to see if it goes away?

I added a pic of my light installed in case you were interersted in going this route. Mine was originally a 144" with the suitcase holder taillight before I did the tunnel extension.

Forgot to ask LBZ, did you swap out your track and skid? Where did you get your extension? Do you have any cooling issues?

ya the avy-death over the weekend was back in corbin somewhere.....

that bar that the wires go to is a resistor .... i think its a single element bulb and the block makes it so the tail light and brake work off the same element
