I'm curious to see if the manufacturers will ever come out with a electric/gas hybrid. Kind of like Porsche did with the 918. It would be expensive but maybe in 5-10 years the cost will come down. Gas power with an electric boost when needed.

Charging at the base of boulder/frisby. Those high voltage lines are probably better than an army of 1200watt Honda generators.

that could work. are you going to buy one if a viable mountain machine comes out? would have lots of low end torque.

I’m getting one for sure.
28kwh battery, I will make it work.
How did I miss this…

yeah that could work. still would have to charge them.when the day is over. most people when they come to the mountains stay at a hotel. could be some fighting over the plug in?

I don't think they are going to catch on that fast . might see a few on the hill, but I imagine most will be burning gas for years to come.

they look cool, and are getting better, don't see myself getting one any time real soon.
They are already fighting over plug ins at the Days. Everyone has to melt off their sleds everynight and wants free electricity instead of burning their own propane. Can't get out of the parking lot early because of the super trailers parked in front of the entryway getting their free fix.

Ken, there is a plug-in that I could let you use in my driveway. You will be able to ride from there so you won't need to get out of the parking lot with your truck. It is not in Revy though.

It's getting there...I don't know how well they are financed, only time will tell. Alta electric Motocross bikes where bought by BRP not that long ago. They had some very competitive designs that went head to head with the latest 2 and 4 stroke motocross machines. unfortunately they ran out of money. If those E sleds are ready to rock... Taiga needs to have some demo days in the B.C rockies at key locations.

I think you'll be driving an electric truck with a gas sled before electric sleds become commonplace. It's way easier to electrify the highway system and has a much bigger impact. All OHV's combined are only a small fraction of the gasoline consumed.

They have a very distinct brp look to them. Just saying. Maybe build er up and sell off. Then go chill on a island somewhere. Just thinking out loud here.

I just read through this thread. Is nobody thinking about the "throttle" response? 100% torque available at any rpm? At any elevation!

Here's hoping the weight and balance are correct for sidehilling!

I can't wait till this winter test rides!

5ms motor response time. 180hp at any elevation. That's gonna be fun.
No clutch belts, oil, exhaust, no AIR INTAKE. Fill the battery for $4 of electricity. It should never ever ever lose power in deep snow (until the battery dies ha ha).
Regen braking so will be able to recover energy coming down the mountain.
The weight is not even that bad compared to my AC m8 162 3". (560lbs vs 585lbs). Probably pack less tools as well.

Electric sled daily ride cost:
$0.15/kWh x 33kWh = $4.95
2 stroke sled daily ride cost:
$1.35/L x 25L = $33.75
$10 per day for oil (cats use no oil, polaris use some, skidoo guzzle)
$25 per day for clutch belt

Obviously the electric sled is going to cost a LOT more but when you're riding frequently these things really add up.
