Have you guys not heard of a snatch block??? doubles the strength of your winch! You can then pull nice and even without jerking. It has saved my butt many times

true, only you said you where jerking the other quad out, may not of had to. a 3500 lb winch should have pulled you out. you exceeded 3500 lbs if you could not pull and had to jerk the quad out. you are trying to compare a larger quad more power, heavier with a smaller lighter quad that can never get to where you where stuck, what are you looking for miracle rope, maybe go back to the cable and quit the bs. find out for yourself, usually the only way to learn. you just can't seem to hear what others are trying to tell you. please get the steel cable as you need it.
please buy the cable.
almost quarantee more to the story than has been told. the right size blue steel cable will pull more lbs than the equal size steel cable, you better be looking for wear, or something rubbing, otherwise you will need the next size blue steel rope. you may find a hook and cable coming at you real fast next time. i would suggest a 9000 lb winch for a polaris anyway, only a fool would go out with anything less, for a polaris.
ok, when you tugged the winch rope you exceeded the breaking strength of rope, ask the dealer what the breaking strength and what the working load is. if the breaking strength is not more than 3500 lbs, you need a bigger rope. the same will hold true with a steel cable. obviously you never exceeded the breaking strength of the steel cable before. what is to understand a cable or rope will withstand so much. you exceed it and it will break. breaking strength, is the same thing in rope or steel cable. different sizes have different breaking strength. you break the rope = you need a bigger rope, the same size rope will break again more than likely. same as steel cable.
yes what size of blue steel rope you got.
1/4 inch- 5/16
I believe 5/16, but I can go check.
3/16 is what i have on my 2500lb warn on my king quad, i've never had a problem, you may need to try the 1/4 inch with a 3500 lb winch. also they are not designed for the jerking of stuck quads , just a straight pull. you should try a tow rope, get at princess auto real cheap 10,000 llbs or more, 30 ft plus.
3/16 inch amsteel rope has a breaking strength of 4900. lbs
1/4 inch has a breaking strength of 7700. lbs.
so you probably have the 3/16 rope, try the 1/4 inch. it is only a few dollars more.
you likely had the 7/32 steel cable before.
3/16 steel cable breaking strength is 4200lbs
7/32 steel cable is 5600lbs
1/4 steel cable is 7000lbs
5/16 steel cable is 9800lbs

CORRECTION doo! Amsteel blue 3/16 has a breaking strength of 5400lbs and 1/4 has a strength of 8600lbs just checked it out on Amsteel's website just thought I would clear that up for ya. 5/16" amsteel is 13700 lbs! I don't see a problem with 3/16" rope heck you're only using a 3500lb winch! the bad part about going to 1/4" is you can only fit 40' on your winch vs. 50' of 3/16"
hmm i took the #,s from amsteel blue.com, looks like they are listing 2 different #'s. for the same thing hmm. i'll go with mine, and be a little safer.
How am I BS-ing?
BTW, we started tuggin' cuz my winch was sucking his Brute in with me!
Now tell me, how does a snatch block solve this problem.... With not a tree in sight!!
And like previously stated... If my second rope breaks, I'll happily put on a cable.
Do you think I'm a downer and waited a month for this thread to blow over before I replace my cable?????
You hook up the snatch block to the rear of the other machine if you can winch ,if not you hook it up to your machine and let him pull GENTLY .I am not sure of the physics involved but this really works without sucking the other machine in
