I should start off by saying this is my first thread in the arctic cat section as I made the move from Polaris to cat this off season...

Back on topic, I bought a 16 M8000 and looking to see what guys are running for oil? Arctic Cat APV, Amsoil, Redline or any others? I have about 6 jugs of Polaris gold left that I was running in my Polaris and am trying to find a reason not to run it in my cat till it's used up. I know many guys run arctic cat oil in pros. Please post what you use and why, thanks in advance.

Cat apv oil for me as well. Figure I’m not going to put cheap stuff in it, so may as well run the oil designed for the motor. And it smells great!

I ran amsoil yellow for 3years but switched to shell synthetic because I can get it at any Canadian tire and my friends have used it for years in there pro climbs with no problems. The yellow amsoil is gold like the Polaris oil I think you’ll be fine to run it but you should try and get tank empty before adding the new oil I don’t like mixing oil Good job getting a cat to

I use the Ctec 2 oil but have also used Amsoil in the past. The Polaris gold should be fine to use the old Suzuki 800 are as tough as they come. I use the Ctec because of its pour point in the cold, and for warranty. The Amsoil was cheap to buy and worked good.

Ran the Suzuki 800 since 2008, and the 800 HO Suzuki from 2011 on and used shell advanced synthetic on all of them from day 1, way better oil than arctic cat apv, way cheaper as well and easier to get, cat apv oil was one of the worst oils when us snow and mudders got that 2 stroke oil testing done about 7-8 years ago. The new ctec oil is good but it’s designed for the new ctec 800 and ctec 600 with the electronic oil pump and is not needed for the Suzuki. The Polaris VES gold is a better option IMO than AC apv oil, tested way better and if I remember correctly was one of the top “sled manufacturer “ oils that were tested at the time

Yamalube. As recommended by the dealer who sold me the sled. He said it's just as good but cheaper .

Lots of Yama lube goes through cats in this neck of the woods cause it's half the price, I put over 6500k,s on Suzuki 800's running blue marble.

Thanks for all the responses guys. No warranty left on it unfortunately. I've heard similar results of Polaris gold being a high quality oil. I also agree with running the oil down as low as possible to not mix it. What's the exact type of yamalube you guys run?

Iv been running Amsoil intercepter since 2011. Ran in a 2010 M8HO 4300KM, 2015 CTEC600 1200km, and 2016M8000 stage 2 1600km. My buddy ran it in his 2013 XP800 ETEC 2500KM, pther buddy runs it in a 13 Pro 800. No failures of any kind to be reported. Also i inspect the pistons Through the y pipe regulary. Just pulled my 16 m8000 power valves and they have carbon deposits on them, but easily cleaned up. Also the pistons absolutley look like new!! The 16 has been running it since new. From what iv seen Intercepter does a really good job preventing wear while being cleaner burning.
Also i just rebuilt my CR250 running dominator. The piston is still reusable after all the beatings of WOT it took!!! i put a big bore into it and will continue to use Dominator from day 1. Decent price for good quality oil.
Have heard of guys saying it doesnt leave oil residue on the crank bearings? The cr250 had great oil film on all the parts during disassembly.
just me 2C$
