Suspension tuning question.

I’ve got an 18 SP 165, I recently added some stage 3 Elkas up front and did their stage 4 rear coil over conversion. I’m really happy with how the new rear shock is working, but up front now my sled feels really ski heavy, a bit harder to initiate a turn. I thought maybe limiter was too tight, but it’s loose. I’ve tried with and without sway bar. Not an expert by any means on suspension tuning so was hoping someone could chime in on how to make the skis seem less heavy. Hope that explanation makes sense.

Google how to set your sag properly for starters, and if it's still not how you want it then start adjusting. If you want lighter ski pressure increase the spring pressure in the center shock and decrease it in the rear shock. Can decrease the spring pressure in the front shocks if neccessary.

But your sled being a 165 and having the better suspension keeping the skis down is a good thing unless you want a wheelie machine.

If you want a wheelie machine you want max pressure on your center shock.

And set your rear coils as soft as possible.

You won't be able to go anywhere, but your instigram followers will think you are dope.

I think what your trying to say by meaning ski heavy is that it’s sinking or diving on the front and hard to initiate a turn, as others have stated you need to set your sag to start, then increase compression by turning your black dial until it stops diving. Start by turning your shocks all the way in (soft) and then increase (hard) count the clicks set to about 7-10 clicks for a baseline and then increase from there as suited until it stops diving.

Rear shock same thing, turn to zero then stiffer to about 7-10 clicks, you may have your rear shock set way to stiff and way too much spring load which could be why the front feels so heavy.

Again start by setting your sag (spring preload) on all the shocks first then dial in the compression settings

I run the same elka set up on my 19....my sag is set correctly as per brp manual. Back shock dictates that setting and I have my Center middle to middle firm. I find it plains out quick on the snow and really like the ride I will adjust the high speed knob a bit depending on riding but for deep pow I stay 3 clicks to the slower of medium.

Just a heads up with all the Elka setups, when you turn dials in it goes stiffer, turn dials out (counterclockwise)it goes softer. Rule of thumb if you have the shock details when you got your package it should show
how many clicks back(counterclockwise) from all the way in your clickers are. for Example, My stage 5's on the front are high speed -8, Low speed -12 and rebound -25. so they're turned back that many clicks from starting point.

Do all shocks not work that way, stiff is in and soft is out?
