government will donate millions with or without my consent, don't expect to be shelling anything out of my own pocket, who knows, the dp from haiti, the lt gov will fleece us out of a pile for them. that's all that i'm donating.
don't really care if anyone likes it or not, as we have our own problems right here in this country. look after our own first .

Need to look out for # 1 first and these days that's a task in itself...
I might get some flack for saying so, but I am tired of hearing about Haiti.
The only ones benifiting from the disaster is the news stations.

WOW...when I started this thread I thought everyone would be up in arms because most sledders do give a $hit. I look at all the cash that was raised for the avi families in BC in a short time and felt proud. Now I read some of the comments left on here and the comment left in "this mornings" Sun and I feel a bit ashamed.
I know there's a lot of "rednecks" in this sport but I always thought even "rednecks" had a heart.
Disaster can and will strick here some day...lets hope we're remembered for our generousity and not our greed.:)

I am a single father trying to make it on an average income..
And I am not looking for a handout !
Disasters happen and that's what insurance and taxes are for.

I just had a look at my pay stub, i think ive done my fair share of donating. how much money has our government already dished out in money and man hours. if a disaster hit in Canada i bet we would all come together and get sh!t done on our own and get our lifes back in order, not wait for everyone else to help and start fighting amongst ourselves. take charge for your situation.

if you feel the need to donate please feel free to do as you wish, i may donate if i feel that way also, but when someone tries to shame me into donating, good luck i have a tough skin. not everyone has the means to throw hard earned money around so someone in a bmw can put gas in his car, the poor soul.

give if you feel the need, give often, there will probably be another cause tomorrow. i just feel no need at this time.

Being one of the worlds poorest and least developed countries, there's a reason why the devistation and death toll is so high. With all this $$$$$ aid I wonder how much of it goes into the wrong hands. The government seems to prosper...not the people. That seems to be the way it works with 3rd world countries  It also seems that the only way to get people to give is to weigh in on someones consciousness with negativity. I quit watching the news and glancing through the paper because of this. Here's a little history on Haiti if your interested.
Haiti - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

P.S......I wish we could look after local disasters like Canadas homeless, abused women and children, drug addiction, cancers of all types, and all the other issuses that have plagued "our" country for decades.

Don;t sweat it. This dweed is trying to guilt people into donating and this is how he/she contributes.

We all give what we can.

Dude that's all I'm saying too....give when and what you can.
I know Canada has done tons for Haiti and most other under developed countries. My comment was about the way buddy spewed off in the paper about guys with sleds and trucks not doing $hit. I just thought that was wrong to catagorize us as greed selfish dolts...that's all.

Dweed?????????:d

The worst thing about it is that the people that need it are not benifiting from it. We (Canada) are sending supplies, food and water over and the black market are stealing it and selling it to the people who need it for 100X what its worth ?? How many kids are they shipping over to Canada for adoption ?
I have one child that I can afford to look after and from then on I have used a condom as its not against my religion to use one...JMO !
The ones that I really feel sorry for are the children who have lost both their parents and are starving to death because the adults who can't use a condom are taking the food right out of their mouth !!

I'd be interested to know where this clown got his so called stats? Every single tax paying canadian has contributed to this cause and many others world wide by paying taxes, if you feel the need to contribute above and beyond that feel free to do so. I personally think you need to worry about your own backyard first, so any time I contribute it to goes to local charities such as STARS, Childrens hospital, Cancer society, etc. And before some clown tries to jump down my throat for this I spent 20 years in the military, 4 operational tours overseas, etc. doing my part and I too am tired of hearing about Haiti's problem as well. We are there, and helping, it takes time to distribute aid and with the amount of destruction there it will take a long time and I have no intention of sending any extra funds their way other than my tax dollars.

Everyone donates in their own way. Money for Stars, food bank,Christmas toys for kids.

A lot of us deliver toys at Christmas and for the food bank.

Cash donations for all types who require it.
Sometimes I wish we helped our own first.

Then help others of course.

Exactly....I am tired of hearing all that chit. Canada gives money to rebuild Iraq. What?......ah.....what? The US, & Canada go in and blow it up, then we help rebuild...what? Doesn't make sense....it's like me punching you in the face....then helping you back up. No one helps us out, they just come to our country and tell us how we are going to treat them. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for Haiti, but let them deal with it.

No longer in Alberta... Moved to Toronto!
Anyone read the letters in the Sun today. Some guy wrote how the guys with atv's/snowmobiles, 40K trucks and 350K homes are not helping the people in Haiti. I'm not sure about you guys but I give an average 2K a year to various charities and find that to be a bit of an insult. He mentions 74% don't donate....maybe we're the 26% that do.

Where the Fug is this dude getting his stats???? How about the guys with the $2 million homes and there $1 million "Cabin", with their $100,000 Mastercrad parked on the water and driving their lambos and bentleys???? Sorry but a dude that has $400000 in a home and vehicle (probably most of it financed) may not have that much to give and secondly, why does it have to be cash that they donate... isn't time more valuable than cash??? I know that there are TONS of peeps that give whatever they can and in some cases more than they should! Interested to get this screwballs supporting material and find out why he would call out this group of people...

Hidden motive here???
