You are correct it pops right in and is a cheap fix for the 09 tampon.
You make me want to reseal my SLP cold air, I was never happy with the seal on it to the air box?

I made sure there was a good seal on both the airbox and then where the air horn attaches to the top of the console area. I knew it would bother me if I thought it wasn't a good seal.

When installing the console I RTV the rubber seal onto the air horn and then I RTV that to the console so there is no area for air to leak through.

Now when removing the airbox/console I remove it as a whole piece. It takes a few extra seconds to manipulate the console around the stearing post but it saves me from breaking that seal each time.

Hopefully I will have some good news on Monday that the shop was able to clean up the bad cylinder with out have to re-nickel.

I learned a little about pistonwash and blow by when I was there on the 800R. At 1000km on the stock piston/rings they are already getting excessive blow by and wobble at the exhaust ports. So anything more you could be pushing your luck. Hmmm....so a future rebuild every season would still be pushing my luck on these motors? (1800km last year) and I know guys who ride easily 2500 in a season (jealous) Only if I liked 4-strokes.....geash.

So I actually got my monoblock back sooner than I expected. Awesome turnaround time and it came out very well. Just a few minor vertical scratches that you can even feel on your fingernail. Certainly worthy of the rest of the season.

I know a few people were looking to have some cylinders replated and I can't comment on the quality of work that he can do for replating as I didn't have to have mine done but anyone interested should contact Jim @ Skylark. He is a one man show but has all the proper equipment and knowledge.

Yah I sealed the horn to the air box and glued the rubber on but I think I'm going back and copying you  with the RTV to console.

cylinders look decent, mine has a couple pits in the nicasil. if you take a dental pick and feel the pits they seem to be almost one mm deep. prolly not that much but definitely something that honing won't take out

By looking at your pics of the cleaned up cylinder. You will be fine. From what i am seeing in the pic it appears that the lines DONOT go past the ports on the top of the cylinder. This is good as the rings only go to the bottom of the transfer/intake ports.

It ran well the way it was, it should run like a champ now :d

For how long...well....time will tell. Maybe it will be one of the flukes that run 5000km now.

regardless, it gets a new shortblock once the season is done, dontated then to the girlfriend and I get new sled.
