Just because it is more difficult to initially get the job it again doesn't make you any smarter, better or more skilled. Just means you had a friend, or family reference to get you in....... No you won't convince me of anything because your fellow drivers prove you wrong everyday.
a friend or family reference? lol....not like it's a job at a bank or something. I disagree, if you got the job you definitely ARE smarter than someone that doesn't know the difference between a deck pin or a neck pin.

Go ahead. The logging, mining, long haul and winter road guys might have something to say to you though..... Because they must all be garbage behind the wheel because they don't work in the "patch". And yeah Alberta oil field as jack to do with what you know, it's all in who....... It's just generally if you are better than the next guy once you get in you do better for yourself.

That goes for almost any faction of life though, not just oil field.

Just finished pulling the hill heading east out of Castlegar with the holiday trailer and the missus says look at this. A soccer mom in a minivan letting 2 kids out at the top of the hill with skateboards. WTF? Guess she doesn't like them....

Baaaaaaaaa ! BC logging truck drivers can out drive any of ya's from the flat lands lol

Ill say one thing, the conditions I hate the most when driving is the wet, slimmy clay like they have in many areas of the patch, I have allot of respect for the guys who put up with that almost daily.

I think you misunderstood his point, the lowest form of "trucking" is the highway boys, any Arab can get a license and head out with zero miles under their belt. When you get a job, either in the patch, logging, icehaul, you generally have to go through a much more stringent application process, they dont just hire anybodies cousin.

I never said any of them were less of a driver because they weren't in the patch....log haul drivers are some of the greenest out there, and they just have to have a license to hook onto 73,000 kg loads and head out on the highway. the guys that run in the BC interior are studs. mine drivers don't run on public roads, they have their own roads and a lot of chicks drive those trucks....they are well taken care of and babysat almost 100% of the time. winter road guys? like ice road truckers? that ch!t is the biggest farce ever....if they are your standard of "professional" drivers then your view is terribly askew. any moron can do that ch!t.

Not when we have to grab a couple of gears on a hill, then we end up pissing on our hand while steering with the other elbow.

One thing that is a certainty for all aspects of commercial drivers, the more shortage of skilled labor, the more bad drivers were going to get. Its the sad reality of an economic boom.

Sorry I don't watch television or garbage like ice road truckers. And mine haul drivers aren't all women running some Cat or Komatsu haul truck either. There are plenty of tri axle trucks running mine haul roads that aren't for the faint of heart. But then if you worked in the industry you might know that. It's not like you oilfield boys drive such horrible roads 24/7. Plenty are just gravel roads. If it's anything serious the first work done is putting a proper road in to get traffic in and out...... Because no one makes any money pulling people through with a Cat.

You guys get so uptight about this crap I find it hilarious. If you drive you will defend..... If you are a good driver, you are not part of the problem. Period.

I've hauled many machines into and out of mine sites like tumbler ridge and grande cache on a lot more wheels than a tri axle, but yeah, I don't know the business. their roads are spectacular. any bumps or washboard and the crying starts. I guess I'm just used to the beautiful well maintained roads of the north.

that's sarcasm in case you missed it.

And you also never exaggerate or make something out to be a lot worse than it is either trying to push a point.... That isn't sarcasm in case you missed that. You aren't the only person on this forum that drives oil field roads.
