Stuck in McBride lost dess key Help

I've had 2 riding buds burned by the DESS tether. First guy loaded his sled on my deck the night before, next morning we drove out to Hasler west of Chetwynd. Went to fire up his sled to unload...no tether. Had to sit in the truck all day until we got back from riding.

Second time buddy blew up his sled in Allen Creek and rented one from Alpine for the next day. Went out to Renshaw, plugged in his tether and the sled would only idle and beep...grabbed the wrong tether from the room. He got lucky though, we had a whiskey (spare) sled for him.

Pager, doesn't look like you got an actual answer to your question, but you did end up with a buttload of knowledge for what your kid should do next time!! Nothing like being told what you should have done when its already too late. Apparently my wife has multiple profiles on here and has begun lecturing you about what you should have done.

He had only 2 options , pull it out by sled or heli or get a skidoo shop to have one of their staff to ride in with a laptop with buds and an extra key to program in. Unless it was real close o a dealer I don't think # 2 was a option.

I understand he was up Belle not back in Spirit or beyond in Renshaw so a pull out wouldn't have been that difficult with limited experience even given the deep snow conditions.

It wasn't an ideal spot where it sat across the creek and up big Belle with all the fluff snow. Probably wouldn't have been too bad the next day once the snow was more set up though.

I would have thought swapping ECUs with another identical sled would work well enough to at least ride back to the cabin though.

The snow in Belle was quite deep that weekend, you had to be on the throttle to go anywhere and many sleds were stuck. I have pulled many sleds out over the years and this would be a tough tow out. Tracks would have to be set down in advance, so it would defiantly take a while and require some knowledge.
