So I follow @strathcoCounty they post info on envents in the area....

So they posted a ? were you able to unplug on family day? We'd love to hear how you spent the day!

So I sent them ......"we rode horses in the morning and snowmobiles in the afternoon!!!!

Then asked them....Why is it so hard to Snowmobile in this county, lots of other county's allow snowmobiling.

They answered....For snowmobiling info visit the link

So I tried again....."we are familar with the regulations,the limited area's available and are aware that the RCMP are the enforcement side of the rules, but your not answering the question. "Other county's allow snowmobiling, why doesnt the county of Strathcona allow you to travel to these are's from the rual areas via the snowmobile.

Haven't called, have heard the RCMP's answers....they're just enforcing the rules....have the tickets to prove it.

Im guessing these are the guys i saw on the Henday between Wye and Baseline last week with a 1 ton dual GMC with sled deck and two shiny new sleds...and a red/blue light bar ?

Oddly enough they had a semi pulled over on the hill

I live in Beaver County and call Strathcona County the no fun county because anything that's fun is illegal can't ride quads can't ride sleds can't shoot guns etc etc

Its funny you say that your in Beaver County. I just recently moved into Strathcona from Edmonton and spent many weekends out in Beaver to have fun doing all the things i now hear i cant do at home.

They Ban everything fun in strathcona county because there is no actual crime for them to pay attention too so they are bored (we have the highest amount of RC's per capita in the capital region too...) That and the people who make the rules here are a bunch of bitter old fogies who think that if they arent having fun, no one should. That or they are safety nazis who are trying to legislate common sense so everyone is "safer"... Drives me nuts.

My favorite was Highway 21,

before: Not divided, 100 km/hr the whole way through.

after: divided, 80 km/hr for a majority of it. *facepalm*

i talked with the bylaw guy that patrols gibbons once in a while, he said its a town/county choice. the town or county can allow quads/sleds in towns on roads etc if they pass a bylaw stating that. if there isnt then it defaults to the provicial law

one reason i try to avoid sherwood park at all costs, to many stuck up residents and bored cops... if they had their choice the yellowhead would be down to 80 past sherwood park

Lucky for all of you residents of Strathcona County, it is an election year! You can stop complaining here and actually make an election issue out of it! Get some change happening. Make that snowmobile trail from Ministik to South cooking a realiity. Vote in a council that will make change.

.....but you would have to get off the fourm and loby your elected officials!! Now go!!!! Make all us riders proud you residents of Strathcona County!!! Change is in your hands!
