Strangest or coolest things seen while riding?

Riding on the Mcleod river south of Whitecourt a couple of years ago, came around a bend and found ourselves smack in the middle of a herd of about a hundred elk. Man they are BIG up close when you're sitting on a sled. Hooves look HUGE at head level four feet away. We slowed up and they cut into the trees (the whole herd moved like a school of fish).

We used to chase the odd fox back in Saskatchewan, good luck getting very close to them. They handle a little better that a sled.

A few years ago riding South of Whitecourt on the Mcleod River we came accross a herd of at least 75 elk. They came off the river bank and followed each other accross the river, nose to tail. We just shut off the machines and watched them like a ribbon going down the river. It was very cool. I haven't seen an elk around here since.

Summiteer and I came very close to tagging a coupe large moose on the Family Day Poker Rally about five years ago. Got the heart racing pretty good. We popped over a hill and they were eating willows right on the side of the trail. Too close for comfort.

Seen a wolverine on Sunday at Blue River. He was in no hurry to get off the trail and I wasn't going to start an arguement with him about it. Them guys are just plain mean.

I've seen just about everything, but that one is still on my list.

most amazing thing i ever saw and did was get my new RX-1 out of chapell in about 3 ft of powder in 04......i was so happy.......and tired.... what a tanker

Probably some "Ski-doo or Polaris" guy who got tired of his buddies Arctic Cat kicking his Arsss, and decided to steel the thing and light it on fire down on the lake. Us Cat guys have to face a lot of these kind of challenges from time to time? Keeps us on Top!

Me and a couple buds were out riding the trails around Ft Sask and they just wound up some kinda member's party at the Clubhouse at Elk Island Sales.It was getting dark and we noticed a couple shinny things flashing as they made there way across a field.Not far behind this we noticed what looked like a ring of marbles wiggling all around bouncing up and down.Was the wierdest thing I ever seen.I said to my buds,we got to go check this out.So we hoped on our sleds and chased this phenonemom down!..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................We found Dooboy with a Sombrero and a bottle of Tequlla,chasing Bunnyman yelling and Screaming with a Dress on!Sounded something like there was some disagreement between Polaris and Skidoo!
We decided to leave rather than offer the number too the local cat dealer!Hope you boys get it worked out !

Years ago when I lived in Fort Smith we rode across to the east side of the Slave River to go ice fishing. We drilled a hole about 100m from where a pair of bald eagles had their nest. They watched us closely and we kept our eyes on them in case they were real hungry.

We caught a little jack that wouldn't swim back down the hole. We decided to move and drill another hole and left the jack out on the ice for the eagles. After we moved about 50m away, the male eagle flew down to check out the fish. The female followed him and they ate the jack in about 30 seconds. We went back after they finished and there was just a pink stain on the snow, not even a single scale!

The weird thing was that the only bit left over was a small plastic lure that must have been in the jack (not ours) and covered in chew marks from the eagles.

The same trip we rode beside two wolves on a lake for about 300m before they headed for the bush. I never realized just how big they were til I got that close to them.

ahha yea..ive seen acouple of them while ive been sledding..a couple years ago my brother ran one over and it wasnt dead..

WELLL...today, i was at my cousins place to go sledding for the day. My older cousin comes home as we were getting ready to leave...he told my younger cousin and i to go start his 98 summit 670....so after about twenty pulls, the thing fires up just fine, then all of a sudden, it takes off at full throttle with nobody on it, out the shop (there are no doors) barely misses a grain bin, flies through some spruce trees, crosses the road, goes through the ditch, jumps almost over a fence (taking out a couple wires), continues at full throttle through the field, smokes another fence....but somehow climbs over top of the fence post which got wedged in between the belly pan and trailing arm making the arm look like a hockey stick...then finally once it snapped a bunch of wires in this fence, flipped over somehow and the tether got ripped off by the wire, so it shut off. This all happened by the slide in the carb sticking open...the lesson learned is that before every ride, maybe we should each take the time to check the throttle cables. Or, start up your sled on a sled jack so it doesnt take off and get totalled like this one. The trailing arm is shot, the rear mounts for the trailing arm is bent to $hit, the hoods effed up, and the handlebars got bent, the wires for the bar warmers got cut somehow, and all of the padding on the bars is gone. but, MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. It's a tough lesson to be learned at the cost of his sled.

A local summit commited suicide today by swallowing a large gulp of gas and taking a stiff post to the mid handle bar section causing massive wiring and bodily damage. Locals rushed to tow and refurbish the old girl but it was too late. Cause of doom..........clogged , gummed up carbs causing a wild wide open-ness escape from the saftey of the barn.
