Stolen sled and trailer from ft sask

Good luck with Ft Sask RCMP.. they are pretty terrible at this kind of stuff, lived there all my life but, I'll definitely keep my eye's open for your sled / trailer. I still cant believe they just waltzed out of there with a trailer and sleds and no one said/saw boo about it. I feel for you man and i hope they find the guys who did this.

They are probably going to hound me lol i have a pretty much identical sled to you, except some little cosmetic mods.

How is that secure storage place taking this. Can they be held responsible in any way?

As for the RCMP, my experience is they are not what they public thinks they are. They only investigate crimes that make the news, pay into the police fund (traffic fines), or further a the police state agenda. I wouldnt hold my breath on RCMP helping you.

Thanks again everyone. The RCs say they are going to check out the storage place, it is store at own risk so I may not have any recourse with them. I am going to look into the fact that if it is advertised as safe secure and monitored, then they broke contract by not having it safe, secure and monitored then may have something on them. Timing is horrible, 2 more weeks it would have been home on the island, and I would be sledding the coast for Christmas

I never stored any myself so I don't know how's those places work, but wouldn't you have to show proof of owner ship before you leave with a trailer? Which only makes it seem that much more fishy! Man that sucks for you. Hope you find it. If I were you I would drive around fort sask and look for sled tracks. Any body who payed for there sled wouldn't be driving it on this much snow, but if they stole a sled they probably take it for a bag cause they don't care.

They only thing they should be able to see is who swiped in after I did on the weekend and investigate those people. But when I asked the guy at the storage yard he said he wasnt sure they could, complete BS if you ask me as they are numbered to and individual and logged when they are swiped, the same thing they use on the industrial sites. It is a 24 hr access yard, but unmanned so it could have happened anytime.

If they have a card access system that is used to access the yard, it most definitely has a record. The fact that they say it doesn't screams inside job. I would pursue the legal angle of the fact that they misrepresented the safe and secure part of thei advertising. I would be checking out a lawyer in this matter. However the store at your own risk part may be the grease that lets them wiggle out from any prosecution. I know at uhaul they take this protection stuff pretty seriously, too bad the storage yard doesn't

I get how you feel. 2 years ago my husbands truck , deck and sled were stolen. All in about 15 minutes from when it was parked. We didn't get any help from the RCMP so good luck with them. I sure hope you get your sled and trailer back. We will watch for it here in P.G and I will spread the word in our group.

This yard, as far as I can see, is a franchise. I am sure they have to follow some guidelines for security. Perhaps some research into that would prove they were not following their own guidelines...

Right after the first post, I said the same thing to myself that lots of others have said: Sounds fishy, Inside job, slimy franchised storage place. I'd start talking lawsuit with them, document everything and start a sh!tstorm. No working cameras, no keycard access logging (which is BS, the system will have a record) coincidentally at the same time..........hmmmmm, not very secure at all if you ask me, time to call Global News for a consumer report?...........

It doesn't matter how secure something is, if some azzhat wants to take it, they will.

I've had sleds stolen, quads stolen, trucks stolen, vehicle break ins. I even had a motor stolen from an old TnT back in the day. They actually took the time to take the motor out because the sleds were chained to house in the back yard. Woke up in the morning to go for a ride and hmmm...no motor!

I feel for people who don't have a lot of storage space. We live in the city and have very limited garage space for toys. The only thing we can do is hope for the best, and have insurance out the azz.

We work our butts off to have things that we can enjoy to have some jackoff rip it off. I still think we should be cutting off fingers when people get caught stealing stuff...when they run out of fingers we go to toes. There is zero deterents in this country for non violent crimes.

They won't, dont get much from them, my sled stolen last year and had 2 trucks stolen and one broken into it was a great year, didnt get any help never even showed up in 3 of the 4 cases, all I got was arrested for telling the officer to stop going through my stuff in the truck as he was just being a snoop and going through all my papers in the glove box and console and I felt he had no business going through my stuff, funny thing the thiefs never opened the console or glove box nothing was touched in there till the cop started rooting around in there, the bags that were stolen from there truck were gone and doors peeled open by a screw driver.

My insurance, and everyone that I have told agrees with that. I just hope the RCMP think so too and look into that

Ya like someone said not many trailers like yours, will watch around here its starting to get worse and worse I think, chased 2 guys off my drive way a couple weeks ago at 2 in the morning snooping around the house and vehicles.

The RCMP will be of zero help. I had a sled + truck stolen and the only way they would have bothered to look for it is if I told them that there some donuts in the tunnel bag.

if the storage yard is a franchise, then they have insurance for this sort of thing. It would be part of their franchise agreement. They failed to provide adequate security for your package as the cameras and swipe system were not working. They are definately at fault and you should be getting some recourse from them.

Talk to a lawyer, your first consultation is free. You have paid for secure storage and they were negligent.

Had my truck and quad stolen a few years back..
Reported everything with the edmonton police, file opened with serial/VIN numbers...
Waited 6 weeks for an insurance pay out.
Bought a truck to replace old blue
8 weeks after the report was filed I recieved a phone call from the Stony Plain RCMP asking me why my truck has been parked on the service road infront of the dodge dealership for the past 8 weeks, and if I don't move it it will be towed...
So they ran the plate number which pulls up the VIN truck was reported stolen yet there was no communication between EPS & RCMP
Turns out the truck was parked there the day it was stolen, they pulled off the quad and left the truck with the doors unlocked and the stearing column busted, yet I get a phone call 8 weeks later asking me to please move my truck....

Well here is all the info I have to date. Armour Storage told me today they are net set up to see who swiped in or out, and of course cameras down. Does it sound like a coicidence? Absoulutely. I have made that thought clear to everyone who will listen. I am covered on the trailer, thank god. But thats where that stops, my home insurance and ICBC will not cover it. There is a communication issue I need to persue on that. I have spoken to a lawyer about possible breach of contract due to not providing a secure location, which is what I paid for, have not heard back from him yet. I have also sent my story to the Troubleshooter, we will see if anything comes of it. The long and short of it is I am sledless. The one thing in this world next to family that could bring a smile to my face. I ate, breathed, and dreamed skidooing. I had to hide my sled porn from the wife as if it was real porn lol..... i watch sled vids year round, I plan upcoming seasons, really was something that truely was in my blood. I am left with some hard choices now. Go out spend 14k on a new sled, find a mint 2011/2010 sled and hope there are no issues with it and pay god knows how much, or give up sledding all together. I dont know that I can do the latter........Thanks to all for you words of wisdom, ideas, and thoughts. Thanks to those keeping an eye out for my stuff....
