Is the first solo flight pretty nerve racking? Or by the time you have enough hours for it are you 100% with everything?

I'm not nervous for mine, all you do is fly a circuit around the airport, well that's how it is at the place I'm getting my license. And I've done a lot of circuits so it's nothing really to worry about. And the instructor won't let you solo unless he feels you are 100% good to go.

I had did two circuits with the instructor the last one he pulled the throttle on me and simulated a emergency engine failure... And I did not bad on the landing he said... Lol ... He said let's go back to the tarmack... Then said stop, looked at me and said your on your own, don't crash this bitch and come in after doing one circut...

I was shocked and was not ready for it.... And man does that plane feel different without a second person... I first got up to my 55knots much quicker, than it also gained elevation much quicker so when I got to my crushing elevation and started my downwind I was much closer to the air strip than normal.... Then when doing my decent I had a good scare as I was not coming down like I should... I had thirty degrees flap and still had to slip to get the dam thing down... I used half the runway to touch down as I have never did that before... Scary as hell when it's your first crack at it

a hr latter, I was still in shock somewhat, so even tommorow I will still be scared a bit for sure

for sure, but they all tell a guy that after another ten hrs or 40 more touch and gos, it's a piece of piss... Can't wait

Training on a 172 cesna, now for the ground school... What a joke, harder than the flying

Better safe than sorry lol. An overflight may have shown the instructor he didn't prepare you enough for your first solo flight. Thank god you made it though!

A 172 with just the pilot and 1/4 tanks will float like a helium balloon on a cold day with the power cut. Load it with 4 big guys full tanks on a hot day it will drop like an anchor. You should buy the Mountain Flying Bible By Sparky Imeson and take note that this very experienced pilot died while flying. Sledding is great experience for flying. Can you ride weeks on end without getting stuck or using reverse? There are no stucks or reverse with flying only crashes. Had a couple of 747 pilots out a couple of years ago, they were stuck every 10 minutes LOL

Just did my first solo this morning, my instructor did the exact same thing with me too! I was chittin pretty good too cause I haven't flown in 3 weeks and there was a gnarly crosswind, had a near perfect landing though so I'm pretty stoked. Lol
