Who knows which one is better? Is one shop better than the other? What about prices? Don't know which way to go?

I went with the 827 as I was told by more than one person that you are cutting it a little thin when you go 860. The horsepower difference between both are not worth it. Can you run the 860 on Pump gas?
It is correct that the cylinder walls are to thin on a non-r motor to do the 860 kit... But because the r motor is a monoblock it has alot more meat to work with.. We have done a couple of dozen or more of the 860 kit's and they are all workin awesome... Not a single comlaint... the 827 puts out just over 160hp and the 860 is putting out about 174hp and that was dyno'd by a guy out in smokey lake.. If you dont know what the best set-up is for the rest of the deal like clutching it isnt perform to its best.. That is why we do our homework.. I'd love to see one of rk tek's 860 that we did go up against any other 860. Acording to one's that i've done for customers they say that they havnt been able to be touched by any other 860's out there.. We have sctually had guys that have had other kits put on phoning the shop and asking for advice on set-up and what they can do to make it work better... these are the types of things i like to see for threads.. People looking for info and several different knowledgable people offering info.. Awesome and great to see.. we have got some stuff figured out for the M8's now to.. Up to 170+hp..

I thought Mountain Magic had the exclusive on Engine Techs???

I think Mountain Magic does RK Tech 860 and i am pretty sure he told me that you should at least run a 50/50 mix of race gas. They also doo the 827 as well which is supposed to really kick a$$.

I use the engine -tech product as Art has done some serious homework. For a small guy who even goes as far as making his own pistons for his big bores is a pretty STANDUP thing in my books. Art also stands behind his product as he also sends you with a complete list of setup instructions that are not very often to far from perfect.

MY TWO CENTS

P.S not bashing anyones product, I've never setup an rk engine. Tom at mots has also got a pretty wicked lineup of Big bores and if anyone knows a doo engine its TOM and his staff:D

Actually you dont have to run a 50/50 mix... ALL you have to do is put like 2 1/2 or 3 G in a tank mixed with premium..

All's i know is that there have been a few different 860's dyno'd here in the city. Some didnt so well.. But the ppl wouldnt tell me which kit is was... Tom does do good work.. I just wish he'd actually go to the mountains and ride some of his stuff.. He keeps telling people how you can make big power putting twin pipes on revs.. Which on a dyno yes you can, BUT they will absolutly fall on there face in the mountains... Just ask ron how he likes his twin pipes.. You can get numbers off of a dyno but that will not tell you how something is actually going to work at alltitude.. Thats why ken takes alot of parts with him to the hills to try them out and see how they actually work.. What alot of people also don't know is that on the 800R motor there is a very fine line where the porting is good and where it'll absolutely fall on it's face.. But hey the industry needs competetiveness to keep it moving forward and improving all the products that we all like to buy and use...

Rory @ PA is doing Engine Tech, say they have for the new XP's on their site.

Thats good.. I've already done a few dozen of Rk teks 860's.. We are building them non stop constantly... For the Xp or the XRS, bith use same kit cause it is the same motor.

Good points, thanks for info.:thumbsup2:

Not a problem man.. I just say what i know and hyave seen for myself.. I'm not into talkin about this and that just because someone said so.. the problem that i have wit hengine tech is the fact that they are built back east, how much mountain testing do they do??? I knopw for a fact that the rk 860's that we build work really well in the hills from all of the ones that i've done this year and the customers have told me they worked well, not one complaint so far.. And with the rk kits alls you have to ruin is 3G vp111 per tank... Any questionms call specialty sleds..

Actually FYI Art and his staff for 1 week last year came to the canadian ROCKIES and ran a 1160,860,830,900cat,800cat all with two sets of pipes clutching to match and a full tank of fuel, YOU asked how much testing they do NOW YOU have an answer and when they show up on the door step this year there will be MORE cats let out of the bag at ENGINE TECH!!!

It's funny you say that because a friend of mine has one you guys put together and he tells me it goes almost as good as the stock sleds he was comparing it too. I can PM you his name if you like.
