Does it mean too much oil?

new oil pump, consumption is normal, ring end-gap set to spec, piston clearance is to spec,
new Polaris cyl, always warmed up to temp before riding.

What kind of compression were you getting before you tore into it? Will a quick hone get rid of the marks or are they deep? Just asking because I'm about to take the plunge on a PMS kit.

Scoring was light, compression was good.Took cyl to Mots to have new pistons hone fit and do some exhaust porting.

Timbo,

Do you have the 2009 cylinders or did you upgrade to the 2010 cylinders? Have the top end off mine and it looks pretty good after 500 miles on the Polaris update. Was thinking about going with 2010 cylinders but will have to split the case and bore it to fit the 2010 cylinders...Don't know if it is worth the work or the $.

Either way the Fix Kit is going in after I make a decision on which cylinders to re-install...

So are the pistons scuffed bad and you replaced them or are you just fitting the orig. pms ones? are the marks from the coating on the pistons? Just wondering.

one piston had some marks on it so decided to start fresh and have them fit properly.marks on the cyl are from the rings.Tom at Mots told me I had a renicked cyl not a new Polaris one which I thought I bought.

Thanks for the info timbo. So do you still feel the kit is worth doing? Which head are you running now? I thought I read that you were thinking about going to the pre-update head an getting more comp.

I think the Fix is the best option out there for the 800.I am running the 09 high comp head with the 08 fuel map,slp pipe, slp venting, the thing can and this year the PC5,will see what happens.

Best fix for the 800 cfi's.

Stock cast pistons, a better piston then stock pol or wiseco! less taper then stock pol pistons, less rock. Billit head with domes set for your riding area or elevation. Also set up for turbos, with low compression domes for pump gas kits, we set up the port timing for turbos, similiar to the new pro rmk's, more low end torque and acceleration. Whether its a turbo or a single piped boondocker, we can set the kit up for you.

Problem with 08 - 09 motors is too much piston clearance, rocks hard and can sometimes break off cylinder skirts. so the 2010 cylinder has thicker lower skirts to bandaid this issue. Install better pistons and issue goes away.

2010, isn't much better, same crap happened to my 2010 Assault. Installed the PMS kit, and will have Chrisco set it up. we will see how long it goes. Hopefully it lasts a year, and then perhaps an upgrade will be needed. Thanks Timbo for the extra fuel line!!!!!
