After reading all this other than Dave's wife got really crappy advice. Don't take the fall for someone else. Isn't nice that the Americans won't recognize our laws. Hell they don't even obey their own laws. Sorry for your wife Dave. I had a friend who was going to the states for a truck parts seminar and was with all the bigwigs when she was refused entry, a little embarassing to say the least. She was passed over for promotion.

At 16 they can charge you as an adult apparently. The other noteworthy "detail"....when they charge someone with possession of stolen property, they often charge then with actually stealing that property. This was the case with my wife. Now...after pleading the "easy way" 20 um...plus years earlier...her adult record shows her guilty of possession and of theft under 1000 bucks.

Cuba sounds cool...wonder if there's direct flights?

The Yanks are effin stupid with this stuff. You'd think with their economy in the shambles it's in they would have a little leaway. We USED TO go down 2 or 3 times a year and I would blow 50 bucks on beer and cigars while she would spend literally THOUSANDS every time. Oh well.....

We were in Jamaica last year...not bad, but not my first choice for return visits. Cuba is an awesome place. We stayed at Breezes Jibacoa...a little town halfway between Havanna and Varadero. It'a a 5 star, all inclusive adults only resort. It takes a bit more than an hour to get to town, but the sights in between are awesome. There's a rum factory about a mile away, and the cigars are cheap and plentiful. I wanted to go to Cuba again this year, but the wife won...Mexico it is.

is there any all inclusive resorts in Belize? i want to see this

Been there, if you go with a group. We did a family trip and stayed at this place. Hands down cheapest and best deal. We did 12 days and snorkeled 11 days. The tours in town are $45-50 ech for 4 hours. The house has a fella Alberto who drives the boat for you best thing ever, he takes you to all the same places the town tours do and for $20 /day his wife "Mar" will cook and clean what ever you supply for her to cook. We bought our own food from town, 1/2 the time Albrto spear fished while we snorkeled and he got us lobster one night conk one night and several different fish other nights. Dont go by the posted rates call him and make a deal thats what we did. It was by far wayyyyy cheaper than town. But we had 12 people, 7 adults 5 kids.
Haveing the boat and Alberto is worth a ton of $$$$ IMO you see way more of the reef than you ever would freelancing. It might seam exspensive but its really not for the trip we did.
Belize Resorts and Hotels - All Inclusive Belize Accommodations, Belize Vacations, Belize Holiday, Carribean Vacation and Tours from Casa Blanca - Mata Grande, Ambergris Caye, Belize

I would second the post that says Cuba at the Breezes jibacoa. Stayed there a few years ago and was always nice and clean and is not too far from Havanna if you want to take a tour of the city. Food was good, beach was nice and of course is a direct flight from canada so no US stops required.
