So you guys liked the food? The no toilet paper in public places? I am talking off resort for no toilet paper. Or the begging for money/ or buy cigars? Sure the water and beach is nice but the booze is low quality. The food most of the time sucks. I don't want to deal with people always wanting money or to sell me stuff while I am relaxing. I want to be able to eat anything or drink anything without worrying about where it's coming from. I like that fact I don't need to take shots to go to Maui. Guess I have been spoiled by better places lol

As Murm said go to Cayo Santa Maria, stay at the Iberostar, first class all the way, food was spectacular, don't let one bad experience keep you away.

I found the food was good, pizza, burgers, fries 24 hours and then the a la carts were awesome...buffet was good if you got it fresh.

I had no issues with beggars in Varadero....Havana yes that's why one day there was enough for me, got real old real fast but was not hassled at all in Varadero. I think expectations play a big part, I wasn't expecting 1st world country 5 star, our resort was rated a 4.5 and was a solid 3.5 or 4 by our standards.
café washrooms had TP... just need to go in buy a beer and ask for the key, maybe I was lucky but I had no food/sun/booze related issues.

Agreed, best bang for sure just not really seeing anything that really intrigues me, not really into the pub scene anymore. Probably some cool history though.

I'm thinking New Orleans, Tennessee etc.

I've been to 3 spots in Mexico, Dominican, Aruba,Hawaii
I spent 5 days down in New Orleans and it was great! Been to Hawaii, Paradise Island, Mexico, Jamaica, Florida, Vegas etc many different times but the one trip that sticks out was New Orleans. Lots of culture and site seeing and the food is amazing! Bourbon St is fun with lots of little pubs etc. Highly recommend it if your thinking of going.

Been to Cuba twice and love it. Like anything, you get what you pay for. Don't stay at a 3 star and expect a top notch resort. More times then not the people I hear complaining about where they went was because of a lower quality resort.

I'd sell the tickets, the CAN$ down, any place that uses USD$ will cost you a ****load. Put the money into your TFSA, RPP, RRSP or pay down some bills,.. then plan for a future a trip you want to go on, not a spur of them moment trip that you HAVE to use up.

Some places to think about would be Nashville, Austin or Boston for US vacations that i have been on. You could head out to Newfoundland either for George Street Festival or in the fall just for the sheer beauty. Montreal is another one in this great country of ours that is a must see and if you go for F1 the city is crazy and great racing to watch.
