Snowmobile Helmet for Streetbike?

Finally found a helmet that fits good. The brand is CKX. Bought wifey and I each the Revolt half and an extra visor. I was tempted to get the full face and I might still, but they make a modular style as well. I would prefer the modular, but it is a snowmobile helmet. What would the difference be? Insulation? They would be rated the same DOT spec no?
That being said, I was using a BRP helmet until recently. I didn't find it unusually hot in the sun.

When selecting a helmet for street use it has to be DOT approve. It will say so on the back of the helmet. Another important aspect when considering helmets that are not street approved is in the design for air flow. For example a dirt helmet with a beak can catch alot of air at 100km/hr or more, this can be very dangerous. There are cross over helmets available for street use but like anything you get what you pay for. My Arai street helmet set me back almost $1000 compared to my 509 blackopp's $450 helmet that I would not even think of using on the street. The spec's and quality is night and day.

Not saying you need to spend a $1000, just shop around and select something that will meet your needs but don't cheap out on a non street helmet, make sure its DOT approved.

I travel a lot on motorcycles and spend more time on it then driving my truck so I have a different need.

Don't cheap out on your helmet.
Make sure it fits you probably and is of good quality.
I'm taking from experience had a bad crash and was told by the doctors that looked after me that my helmet and other riding equipment saved my live.
DOT is bare minimum even sid-lid are DOT.

Fair enough, but no one requires a $1000 helmet. More $ doesn't mean safer. As long as it is DOT and SNELL, the rest of the money goes to lightness, graphics, and features like venting. Oh, and simply the name.

If your head hits the pavement hard enough to smash your helmet it’s not going to matter how much you paid for it, fit is most important and make sure it’s done up. I paid just over 200 bucks for mine .

Yes the modules one, the ones with built-in sun screen ,intercoms ect don't make them saver just more expensive.

How the helmet reacts when it hits the pavement will it twist your neck, will it glide over cracks or is there something on the helmet that will catch a crack.
Is the helmet fitted to your head shape not size.
Very few manufacturers have different shapes helmets.

Totally agree with this post, to many people believe a helmet is a helmet and that is why cheap helmets do sell and there is a market for it. But helmet technology is not that simple even though to some they might look the same on the out side they are not in technology.
The way the helmet distributes the shock upon impact to protect your brain and remains intact is part of it, plus many other rigorous test of performance. A DOT stamp is a bare minimum standard, there are helmets that far surpasses the bare minimum.
What it boils down to is how much you care, if you don't then find the helmet that you think looks cool and cheap to buy, with that DOT mark on the back. Its essentially your head not mine or others.

It’s a HJC , I like the fit and it’s seem pretty decent, I wear a half shell quit a bit so this is a huge upgrade because all the half shells are garbage and would do you little good hitting your head at 70 mile an hour.
