I had the same experience last week on two different computers. Microsoft defender caught the problem on the desktop saying the site was not safe to visit but still ended up with a trojan. My laptop ended up with Trojan.Zefarch which malware bytes did not clean. The manual removal is posted on Symantec - AntiVirus, Anti-Spyware, Endpoint Security, Backup, Storage Solutions.

Mine problem was a file named: aze******.dll which could not be deleted so I renamed it ot aze*****.old and then I could deleted it. Now I get a message upon rebooting that the original malware file cannot be found so I have to follow Symantec's manual removal instructions to get it out of the Windows registry.
