Hi im trying to promote this years snomo days. new this year are the addition of a professional fireworks display and snowmobile/atv parade. Im actively involved in organizing the sled parade. The idea is to decorate the sleds up with blinking lights, glow sticks, strobes, neon lights ,reflective clothing, etc. I have over 100 bike lights as a start. I would like to see you here if you can make it, and please tell all of your friends and family. the parade will be held after dark and will procede along the shoreline. we hope to get as many atv,s as possible snakeing around the lake. (should be an impressive sight) stageing will begin around 6:30 pm on the north (right hand side) of the boat launch
Ps. I need to gather over 640 AA batteries so if you have some please bring them.
Thanks…….mic

WTF do you need 640 AA batteries for?!?!!?!

LOL--- im going into competition with transalta. but seriously i have 108 bike lights and they take 6 batteries each. when i was at the store i saw a package of 4 for $5. you do the math. there will be no charge for the parade and i am covering the initial cost out of my own pocket. if anyone knows where to find a cheap source for AA's please let me know.

the poker ralley course is approx 50 km in length.

Novelty Races (Snowmobile & ATV)
The races are run by age group for each of the events. Age groups are:
• 10 & Under “Kids”
• 11 - 15 “Junior”
• 16 & up “Adults”
All the events are timed with the fastest three times in each event winning
a trophy. The first event is the 5-pole slalom course in which contestants
weave in and around the poles.
The second event is usually a cross country style race with tight turns and
bumps. The entire course is flagged on both sides and the riders must stay
on the trail. In the event of not enough snow the cross country race will be
changed to the ball drop event.
In the ball drop event 5, 3-gallon pails are set out and the rider is given 5
tennis balls. The object is to ride from pail to pail dropping a ball into the
pail, if the ball pops out the rider must pick up the ball and try again.
The final event is the “Blind Slalom” in which the driver is blind folded and
the passenger must get both riders and machine through the slalom course
using verbal commands only. This is an excellent test of couples back seat
driving skills.
At the end of the races, around 4:00 pm, the awards are given out at the
Agliplex. All race events, except the Blind Slalom are open to snowmobiles
and ATV’s with trophies being awarded for the fastest 3 times in each event.

Snow Sculpturing Competition
This year we actually have an area where all the snow sculptures are in one
area. The Gazebo Park is the perfect area! Blocks of snow 4’wide, 4’high,
and 8’ long will be made. There are a few basic rules. No color, just snow
is allowed. Very minimal accessories are allowed. If you make a snowman,
you may use rocks for the eyes. That’s just an example, but you get the
picture. JUST SNOW is your best bet. The judges for this event is Shirley
and Dan Hinds. To register for this event you can call them at 924-3007.
judgeing will take place on sunday

Over the Line Snow Ball Tournament
Over the Line Ball has become an integral part of Sno Mo Days. It consists
of teams of four players playing five innings a game. Total games to be
played is determined at the onset of the tournament.
The object of the game is to hit the ball within a designated area, with the
hopes of the opposing team missing the ball. Three hits make one run after
which every hit will be considered a run. A home run clears the bases and
three hits are required before a run scores after the home run. Every inning
starts with no hits carried over. The game winner is determined by the total
number of runs earned after the completion of the five innings.
After the tournament prize money and prizes are awarded accordingly
at the Alberta Beach Hotel along with a complimentary chili and a bun.
9:30 to 4:00 February 16, 2008. Ball diamonds behind Hotel.
The Food Bank needs your support.

Broom Ball Tournament
Broom ball is played on a hockey rink, with rules very similar to hockey.
Each team has 5 players and a goalie. The center line (Red) is used for
offsides. All players must be on side to advance over the center line.
Equipment is simply running shoes and broom shaped sticks (supplied
by tournament committee). The ball used is a rubberized plastic ball,
a little larger than a softball. The object of the game is to have FUN &
GET some exercise! The more teams, the merrier. In charge of this event
is: Brian Muir of Alberta Beach, phone 924-3654. Alberta Beach outdoor
skating rink, Sunday February 18th, first draw 10:00 am depending on
number of teams entered.

VINTAGE DISPLAY
also i better put a plug in for the vintage display. probably my favorite part of sno mo days and a long standing tradition. gary miller PH#924-3165 the organizer has applied for more space this year. so we hope to get more vintage stuff to occupy that space. also the proposal has been made to have a little mini parade of all the vintage stuff. towards the end of the day, that way we can all get to hear the way each one pops and get a little nostalgia. this however is only tenative as we are not sure about liability issues.
SO IF YOU HAVE AN OLD RINGDINGDINGER BE SURE TO BRING IT OUT AND SHOW IT.
