saw one on the mountains once.. you can't wear a pack with it.. so where are you going to stash your shovel and probe ?? doesn't make sense to me !

I wore the Avi-Vest last year and loved it. It is very comfortable. When you are riding you don't even notice it on. It has a built in backpack, I stored my probe and shovel as well as my lunch. I like the complete combo idea. Chest protection, avibag and backpack all in one. We have them in stock at Mountain Magic if you want to see one and try one on. $749.99 Phone (780) 474-9400. We also sell the Sno-Pulse and can service the air for both products.

hmm .. that's a bitch. I love their customer service and return policy. Not going to stop me from shopping at MEC

a buddy bought his snow pulse at mec, got the pack and canister

I wouldn't give those tree huggers the sweat off my ........Went into the Calgary store years ago and slapped about a grand worth of backcountry gear on their checkout counter. Asked the cashier if there was someone I could talk to about doing a multiple beacon deal for our shop at the time. She called over the manager who asked what application they would be used for. When I told him snowmobiling he told me that there was no deals for sledders and we were pretty much the reason for the demise of backcountry usage. I told him he had a nice store but I couldn't stomach feeding the mouth of someone that hates our sport as much as him and walked out leaving all the gear behind I had planned to purchase. Sad part is they nailed me for a membership before I had the confrontation with the manager. Up to a couple years ago I was still getting catalogues from them. They make a great fire starter for fires when you are camping. Lol. Short story is, why not support the dealers who support our sport instead of the guys who are trying to take it away from us. That's my rant for today.

I got the jetboil before I found out their view on our sport won't be seeing my biz again.

I was looking for bear spray when I first came out here and MEC said they don't carry it because of the anxiety it causes the bears! Your got to be kiddin' right.....NOT!!

On the way out of the store was a big display to keep Castle and the Maycroft area from motorized traffic. I haven't been back since and go out of my way to inform peeps
of their stance on our fantastic sport.

They doo have good gear at good prices but I find so doo other shops. Because of the stance of MEC and/or employees, I will go a long way out of my way rather than shop there

that sucks that they are so against sledding .. but I got other hobbies too. I hike, camp, kayak, bike, ski, travel etc ...

My buddy bought a tent from them 5 years ago. A pricey $450 MEC brand tent... We go camping, he gets drunk and trashes the tent, takes it back to them and asks for a partial store credit, no receipt. They give him a full cash refund!

I bought a hiking air mattress, 2 years later it developed a leak, took it back and picked up a brand new one off the shelf.

Bought a pair of Goretex MEC high gauntlet gloves for $40... wore them out in 2 years, got a new pair.. just can't beat that !

You point me to another retailer that backs their products as well as MEC

Tree huggers as they may be, i still like shopping there. But then again, I have yet to have a bad experience there probably because I haven't told any of them I'm a sledder.

I have 2 businesses that are second to none with regards to backing products.....Mr. R's in Lethbridge and DCI Sales (the Klim Canadian distributor) in McGrath, AB. I had a pair of Towogee bibs for 4-5 years and the butt area was leaking.
Anywheres from 50-75 riding days a winter and did the water test, yep they are leaking! Here's a new pair. My Couloir Goretex jacket from MEC was leaking and no replacement as it looked quite used and I hadn't purchased any
Goretex refresher.

Well, Mr. R's is another success story for pleasing this customer. Lots of good outstanding service and the best one is; on my 2010 Everest, it was bogging and the boots on the reeds were cracked. Warranty issue but no replacement parts for weeks. Replaced with V-Force reeds with no cost to me and I was riding the next day. friggin' awesoome

yup, surely no such thing out on the west coast !!! I did order a bunch of doo parts from Mr Rs when I was in Fernie this last season. Pretty happy with their service for sure. (I actually met you at the sled drags :)).. but thats far far away from home :)

anyways, this conversation is pretty pointless.. mec sells lots of gear for all sorts of outdoors activities .. not just sled parts .. so far I've been pretty happy with their service and products and haven't gotten lip about being a gas burning menace. Maybe the MEC in vancouver is more laid back because they are all stoners and the MECs in AB are pissed off because they are stuck with 2 crappy hockey teams :cool::beer:
