Slp pipe kit worth it?

It's a o8m8 and all stock.should I go with slp kit or a can and leave it alone and ride?Any other suggestions are welcome.

I put a full SLP system on my 09 (same motor as yours) and it was a night and day difference. In the hills the sled can actually stand up through a drift rather than briefly carry the skis. They don't need a fuel controller which is a bonus and it still runs good, It's just a little hesitant in the mid but a fuel controller would fix that issue.
You'll be happy with the results

Ive heard that they don't fit that great and the melt the hood.did urs? And what did u do for clutching?thx

I had no issues with the fitting of it, but in the instructions they recommend removing the insulation from your hood and using heat tape on it, and also using heat tape by your ecu and wiring harness since they say to remove the heat shield. I modified the heat shield for the ecu with tin snips and still used the heat tape just to be safe as the SLP y-pipe is a lot more shallow coming off the motor.

I will work awesome. I ran one on my '08 and it was like a different sled. I ran an aftermarket intake but you can just heat the stock intake up with a heat gun where the clearance is tight to the pipe; then push it in a bit with a pair of oven mitts on to reshape it a bit. Then heat tape it good.....no melting issues. :beer:

Sounds good.slp says u have to go with there mtx weights and do something with shims?

Like shredder said, you can use factory weights, but I opted for adjustable primary weights since the peak power is different, and I could just adjust how much weight to put in to reach peak rpm.

Do you remember what the peak rpm is? And does the kit really give 14 horse

Ive upgraded sleds I can't remember what peak rpm is. I think it was around 7800? I don't know if it's added 14 horsepower, but it feels a lot better.

Wife has an 08 M8 w/ a 162", 2.5 Challenger Extreme. It also has the SLP single pipe set on it. I do not use SLP weights. At 7-8000', I run Cutler Adjustable weights (69g), a 38/34 RKT torsional secondary, and Cat yel/white primary spring. Really wakes the sled up. I am running the SLP intake (but don't think it is necessary) and a boondocker fuel controller (helps midrange throttle response). Does it add 14hp? Maybe at sea level running dangerously lean. Does it make a good sled better? Yes, it does work very well since the conversion. P.S. Operating RPM with the SLP pipeset is 8000-8100 RPM, hers pulls best (seat of the pants) at 8000 RPM. Bear in mind when clutching you are far better off going by "feel" then chasing a target RPM - stock tachometers can be off by up to 250RPM either way. Hope this helps.

No, the cat yellow/white has the same starting rate as the stocker, but a slightly higher finish rate. The sled engages @ 3800 RPM with this setup. A worn belt or excessiveside clearance may be causing your higher engagement - I know the side clearance on the M8 wasn't correct when new - I shimmed the spider to bring clearance to .020" with a new belt. I have tried the cat gold spring before, but found it to be too soft out of the hole for my tastes...

I ran the D&D white primary spring with 70g Cat weights in my primary. As OOF said you want to see 8000 on the tach; what ever combo of parts you use to get you there is personal preference. A lower engagement set-up option I got from a few guys on SnoWest was the Cat yellow/green primary with 68g weights.

Anyone run a 07-09 M8 with the SLP pipe set ? Im thinking 70gr cat weights for Valemount ? as Shredder said some say 68 but Im thinking thats is for 9k.
