Just took a first aid course a month and a half ago. The instructor had us do CPR extensively and never mentioned that we should expect to break people's ribs doing it? Where did you hear this?If a guy was revived I doubt he would be in any shape to ride out If it was done correct there would be some broken ribs MINIMUM. Heard it wasn't good expecting to hear the worst .....snow is on ball bearings folks stuff that is usually safe isint, were talking low angle slopes

That is fair Pano. Depending on the size of the subject and how much force is put on the victim I can see it happening. But "minimum" damage guaranteed seems a bit extreme? Anyway back to thread.Friend of mine is a paramedic, has said to do it right broken ribs are an unfortunate side effect Sometimes

No harm no foul Dez. Was not told that during our course. Talked to a few in the know and yes it is a definate possibility during CPR. Cheers!Almost 10 years of fire and emergency response experience when doing CPR on a full grown adult your elbows should be locked (or u won't be doing compressions deep enough trust me) and a MINIMUM of 2" deep compressions on a fully grown male adult you should be closer to 3". The goal is to manually pump the victims heart and having done CPR let me tell u it's hard work and u want to pushing hard don't be shy broken ribs is a easy price to pay vs not coming back
look down at your chest now even at a minimum of 2" compression and. 200lb guy goin at it for 10-15 mins do u think u would be fine ?
I'm glad the boys made it home safe and that this subject got brought up don't be shy boys and girls if one of u ever breaks my ribs in this scenario I would still be grateful to you for the rest of my life.
When i took my First Aid/CPR for when i was on the rigs first thing they said is usually the first or second compression results in broken ribs. So you might hear a pop or crack.Friend of mine is a paramedic, has said to do it right broken ribs are an unfortunate side effect Sometimes
Isnt this just off to the left over turbo hill?
