So my mom wants to come out sledding at the lake with my dad and brother and I. She's only 5'2 and 105 lbs and only rode a sled a handful of times. She rode my dads old summit 670 about 10 years ago and it scared the sh*t out of her. I was thinking a doo ace 600 but my dad thinks that would be too gutless in any kind of fresh snow? What do you think? Thanks! :Snowmobile1:

I would go for an M5 or M6 Cat or a 600 etec or a 600 pro. That ace is only like 90hp. That thing would grow old pretty quick.

In my house!!!!
a newer 600 or 700 would be my suggestion for your mom, both engine sizes are more than enough, and think she would like either :)

900 ace then. Can adjust the throttle so as she learns you can add more throttle.

My brother and I have bought mom a few sleds and the best advise I can give is fuel injection. The carb sleds have a stiffer throttles and the older mom gets the more her thumb hurts.

Yeah 600+ 2 strokes are a nono I'm a much more avid slender than her and my 600 etec is perfect for me plus she can't even pull start my sled. We all ride doo so I'm thinking that's the road she's headed down. I don't think she's a big fan of the 2 stroke smell either... Haha

Get a fanner - either 550 polaris, 570 cat, or a 550 doo. Maybe with e-start if you can find one. Entry level sleds are tough to come by, but they lend confidence to new riders. A 4S phazer might be a good choice too... Not many entry level sleds being made anymore, so used will be your best bet. BTW, a 670 has a different personality then a 600, and they are far too abrupt for a new rider. A 670 with minor mods will run with an 800, so really not a good choice for new riders.
