I have a question with this as well... my 03 cummins quad cab, I have a 8 foot aluminum deck with a 1 foot beavertail. Now with Sask insurance I purchased extra on the GVWr so on the registration of the truck it shows it registered with a GVWR of 8000kgs(16000lbs) Would this cover for hauling on the deck or just with the trailer behind, or a combination of it all?

And yes I do haul a big heavy yammy, but I also haul a heavy gtx limited doo with the 1200 4 stroker up there, I figure probably 1400 pounds worth of sleds and ice up there after a day of riding...lol

unless your being a duche you will be fine.. just get red lights to but on the bumpers of the sleds and your good.. tie each sled down, super clamp in front and one strap over the skid on each sled. you need 3 point tie down. i never had an issue even when i had 2 sleds on a deck on my 1500 in BC. got pulled over and everything. he just let me knwo about the length laws. no more the 2ft past the rear tail lights of the truck, then there has to be a visiable red marking of some sort on the back.

he told me a few other things to watch out for and even gave me the laws. just be nice and ask him questions so you know for next time. they are usually good.

Thanks all I have the triton 2 place for sale or trade going to try the deck thing this year. I don't think it will go out to the mountains much a bunch of buddies have enclosed trailers but will be nice for around locally.

So I am 99% sure I have struck a deal on a deck. It is a 6' marathon with and 18" extention. So in reality I will have a 7 1/2 foot deck. Just don't see alot of 6' deck around. Anyone see any issues with this set up?
Thanks

Well decided against the deck would be shorter than the box. Might look a little stupid. So now i am on the hunt again think i want a 7' marathon. Would also like to thank the seller drew562 a fellow snow and mudder for being so honest and saving me the trip to Edmonton. And he still has an awsome deal on a great deck for short box trucks. Look him up.

I finally got curious last night and went and weighed my truck at the scale in Acheson. My truck is a 2007 Gmc Sierra classic quad cab short box 2500 with a duramax , It has a 7ft STF Sled deck, and it had a half tank of fuel and I being 200lbs or so. The truck weighed 7640lbs. Just some numbers for the crunching.

LMFAO! I often wondered how you would haul 2 Yammies. Perhaps a FORD F650?

My neihbour puts an rx1 and a sx viper on the back of a toyota t-100 extended cab short box , and pulls a trailer with 2 more sx vipers on it . He tells every one he is legal because he has air bags in it . so your duramax should be ok with a deck and 2 sleds .

I have air bags in my duramax too, but in BC all they care about is the sticker on the door and the QC duramax only say's 9200lbs. I think i would be good with two sleds and a couple of guy's in the truck. but i think a trailer would put me over.

9200-7640 = 1560 lbs is your legal load...not much is it :(

So 2 sleds on a deck and pulling a 2 place trailer you will be over weight?
I have an 04 3/4 ton crew cab truck (gas) it says 8600 gvwr and front axle (4410) rear (6000)

What does your truck weigh empty ? GVW - Tare (empty weight) = legal load limit

4410/6000 lbs will be your axle weight rating. This is the maximum weight these can handle independently. Adding the two together has no bearing on your GVW. But proper tire size and load limit will so keep that in mind when buying new tires.

06 GMC 3/4 ton gvwr 9200 lbs - curb weight 5142 lbs = payload of 4058 lbs

2 sleds 1200 lbs + deck 300lbs + 2 riders 400lbs + gear and fuel 200lbs =2100 lbs

I think you should be ok :thumbsup2:

I just weighted my 04 3/4 ton crew cab (gas) with 3/4 tank of fuel and it came in at 6300 lb with no one sitting in the truck. Gvwr 8600lb - curd weight 6300lb= 2300lb payload:eek: not much is it. So i was just wondering how you got 5142 for curb weight?

6300lb. Running 285 75R 16's for tires E load. I think is a 8 or 10 ply.

Why use a deck when you can just stack them up????

3 quads in a 1500

If it fits it works - right ???

How do you figure that is your curb weight with no one sitting in the truck though? Pretty hard to drive with the driver..... ;) take 400 lbs off for driver and passenger and you are left with 1900 lbs payload for 2 sleds, gear etc.
