I am thinking about selling my 2 place triton Trailer and getting a sled deck. I have an 06 dmax. Am i going to run into trouble because of weight? Or how sticky are they in BC?

Not unless you are draggin around two fully loaded Yammy's!

Your '06 should have around a 9200LB GVW, the curb weight is lower than that and the payload of a deck and two sleds shouldn't exceed that.

Find out the trucks Weight unloaded, then calculate what your max payload with passengers, fuel etc would be and see if you fit under the gvw.

Lots of discussions on sled decks in BC, most often they are concerned with length of overhangs and tie downs.

I have a 3/4 HD and a 7' deck with a 163 XP. I put a tail light on the back of my sled because it sticks out so far. I've got a speeding ticket and the RCMP seemed quite happy with my light never gave anything a second look. I run a super clamp and a tie down on the front, and a tie down on the back.

I have an 06 Dmax and run a 7' sled deck. I keep two red flags that i strap onto the back of the sleds. I have never had any trouble with cops and the overhang but i like to avoid any issues with them guys.
The truck has no problem with handling and i find it nice to have the extra weight on the truck for slippery roads.

Like mentioned before do you homework, they can be quite sticky in BC when it comes to overloading trucks. I've seen a few sleds parked in the ditch in southern BC waiting for their owners to come back with a suitable vehicle for hauling the sled home. If they catch you they will not let you proceed until you are under the limits.

Just to be on the safe side go and get yourself a couple of 3500 decasl for your doors and then you should be safe. A 2500 and a 3500 truck looks the same driving down the road.:beerchug:

We got pulled in about 12 years ago in Golden. They took the GVW from the door and the GVW from all 4 tires. (At that time you could have had a 5-ton,but if the tire rating was not good enough, you were dead). My 1 ton had less 'payload' than the 3/4 tons. But we made it. At that time sled length was not an issue.

06 GMC 3/4 ton gvwr 9200 lbs - curb weight 5142 lbs = payload of 4058 lbs

2 sleds 1200 lbs + deck 300lbs + 2 riders 400lbs + gear and fuel 200lbs =2100 lbs

I think you should be ok :thumbsup2:

That's the weight of a gasser. The diesel should be over 7000 lbs.

oops forgot about the diesel

Read a couple articles and it looks like the duramax adds another 1200 lbs to the truck so you should still be good to go as long as the tires are rated load range E

I have a 2004 5.7L Hemi 1500 Quad Cab, says 2308 on the rear, so I'd be borderline. Plus I have airbags on the rear, but that doesnt mean I can load more on the back, because weights weight no matter how squishy it is. What it would come down to is if I have overload tires or not?

LMFAO! I often wondered how you would haul 2 Yammies. Perhaps a FORD F650?

Depending on the model it varies greatly...

For example - on a '09 Silverado 2500HD Payload varies between 2,331 pounds and 5,309 pounds, depending on the model.

I drive a 2007 sierra 2500 classic, the heaviest i have been at the scale was 9900lbs, leaving Rocky. I had two grizzly 660's on a 8ft marathon deck, the underside of the box was full of gear and there were 5 people in the truck, that equals 700lbs over, the quads probably weigh about 700lbs a piece.
