Sled Deck

Thinking about buying a sled deck for my F350 long box. I would only use it maybe twice a year. What should I look for?

What do you want from it? Sliding sides? Telescopic ramp? All aluminum? Budget?

I have a full lotus.

It’s a Love hate relationship!


Looks sweet colour matched with my truck, smooth slide outs, weather proof decking, and built Strong.

but it pisses me off the the decking is 2” inches short of the tail gate of my Long box and the side rails are longer than the bumper. So everything like snow or mud on the deck falls in the box instead of off the back and you can poke out an eye or punch holes in your trailer with the side rails.

The legs are ****ty in a long box too. Front rail fawks up the ability to push **** up to the front of the Long box or make it very difficult. I would also like my ramps to push all the way to the front of the Long box so I have 2 feet of taller storage be hind the ramps when they are in the rack.

Their power coating is Shat! Poor and uneven coverage and weak and will chip and scrape off easy.

I like it. But it could be so much better with minor design changes and a quality powder coat job.

This rant was based on the deck in a long box and I would have less complaints with the same deck with its legs bolted in the short box position and in a shorty.

I bought a 7 marlon in black with deck extension, superclamps for front for 1600 last year its built pretty good i couldnt stomach 5 grand for a deck but to each there own i still prefer my trailer but deck is pretty sweet for early and late season

Sliding sides I assume are for when driving around with nothing on it or for just one machine? Doesn't matter to me.
Telescopic ramp? Not sure what the advantage or disadvantage is? Please explain?
All aluminum? I think for ease of loading and unloading, this would be preferred?
Budget? Less than 2 grand for sure as I will only use it twice a year

Any recommendations would be helpful? Thanks

You may not think the sliding sides is a big deal, but I think it is. I have a cross trax with the sliding sides and I wouldn't own one with out them.
I can still park in my garage with the deck on, plus I have heard the "get out of the truck and walk into the sled deck" stories from many people.
But it is your money. :) I leave mine on year round though. For sleds and then for quads. It might not be an issue for you.

think that one has the adjustable legs so should fit a short box also

Have had sled decks and trailers. My best purchase was a marathon truck boss. Only deck that seals. 12’’ extending ramp. And looks good on a truck. Good ski grips/ slides. Mounts on top of rails and then also has support legs to the floor.

I fit & fab an L-shape slip tank under mine, pump and filler neck slots and holes lined up perfectly with the center of the first slide.

And always wear a helmet when decking.

For marathon truck boss—
I mounted mine with the 3/4” ply box liner. So I had to extend the supplied clips by 1” and re-drill / tap new bolt holes.

I picked up an Lshape slip tank so it would fit my 12’ extender ramp.
Make sure your tank fill and pump nozzles are welded in line with each other and then you have to line them up centered to the first deck plank. I had to shim a bit between the box bulkhead and tank. Measure like 27 times, write down and draw it out. Remove deck, bolt down tank, REMEASURE, bolt down the deck. REMEASURE and cut your hole through everything when it’s collapsed. Then make your slots so you can extend the deck AFTER you extend your tank nozzles and the pump suction tube. Key word here- measure.

I usually throw two short straps from my rails forward to the deck. On the front, without clamps, I would probably go from the spindles either straight down, or slightly back. Don't want to load the suspension at all.
