By pay load i meant gcvw the weight or a trailer is a lot different then the GVWR, a couple thousand pounds vs 10 thousand plus not to mention friction and rolling resistance and wind resistance. The gear ratio plays a lot bigger roll in towing a load then hauling one in the box.

It would make a manufacture looks stupid having a tow rating of let's say 10,000 with 3.42 gears when they have another truck that has the same 10,000 rating and 4.10's. people would be complaining that the 3.42 gear ratio truck can't get up to speed and down shifts all the time. Ultimately the towing capacity changes along with gear ratio.

I had payload on the mine for some reason and everything I said was payload lol.

I have a 2007 mega diesel 2500 that is my dedicated sled truck, on 35's with level kit in the front and air bags with onboard compressor in the back. I use the air bags to help with having the headlights pointed at the road instead of peoples rear view mirrors. Handles the weight just fine!!!!!

I have a 2007 mega diesel 2500 that is my dedicated sled truck, on 35's with level kit in the front and air bags with onboard compressor in the back. I use the air bags to help with having the headlights pointed at the road instead of peoples rear view mirrors. Handles the weight just fine!!!!!

But is it legal?

To the original poster: The truck will handle the load fine. Whether you will be legal or not remains to be seen. Payload ratings on a sales brochure are as worthless as the paper they're printed on. The manufacture takes a stripped truck (without A/C, for example), and calculates curb weight based on a specific engine / transmission combination. The balance listed is payload. In Alberta, you can have a vehicle insured based on the tire rating, but only in a commercial application. I personally have ran into issues with a 3/4 ton Dodge diesel 4x4 crew cab with 8' box, 2 sleds, deck and gear / passengers (fined for being overweight). For the last 7 years I now run a 1 ton SRW diesel 4x4 crew cab with an 8' box, and stock tires - the truck is legal (although not by much - I've had it weighed and only have an additional 300 lbs payload with 3 additional passengers and a full tank of fuel). And although airbags may make your truck ride level, they do not boost your payload capacity from a legal standpoint.
Will you be pulled over and checked? Not likely. Could you find yourself without insurance coverage or criminally charged in the event of an accident and it is determined the vehicle was overloaded? You bet your ass. Check out Bill C-45 (due diligence), and decide for yourself. The responsibility falls on you.

The airbags were already on my truck when I bought it, I just added the compressor to make it sit level, all trucks have a natural "rake" to them to be more aerodynamic and help with braking as most of the braking is done by the front wheels. The leveling kit in my truck makes it ride level but when you put two sleds and a deck in the back with extra fuel etc the front points a little higher than it should of course due to the weight in the back and the level kit. before I ever go into BC I'll weigh the truck and look at rambodybuilder where you can spec out your Ram truck and get all of the payload towing etc information. Being a Dodge dealer I see some pretty wild loads on trucks in for service or trade

and yeah the truck does look good, I most time prefer it over my 2014 Longhorn 3500, but weird how guys in white Oakley's are always giving me the nod when they see the truck with the deck and sleds.
