Sled deck with cummins?

Ive got a 2011 ram 2500 cummins crew cab, does anyone run a sled deck with two sleds on it?
How does it drive? Will i be over weight? Just looking for your thoughts on this.

If it is a long box then it will work really nice. If it is a short box it might effect the steering. Im sure there will people who will deny that. A long box would be the best for using a sled deck.

Mines just the short box 6.4" i think. It has air bags in the back aswell.

7500+ pound truck, 9600 GVWR. It will be close. The only way to know for sure if you want to really know is put it on the scale fully loaded.

its just winter weight. of corse having 2 sleds sitting on a deck is gonna be noticeable 1400lbs? on a high center of gravity. truck will lean more and sway in turns but its not like your driving habits in the winter will be a concern i hope. accelerating and braking wont be an issue. just turns is where you will feel it. IMO sled decks are just convenient, your sled is with you at all times if your away from home and you dont have to stress parking lots like you would with a trailer.

I ran a 2010 2500 Cummins crew cab with a 6' 4" box and a 7' deck. Worked great. It did lighten up the steering a bit but that's to be expected with that weight up in the box. I also ran air bags.

As for weight, my calculations said I was legal but I never did actually weigh the rig. With a 2500, it's cutting it close if you've got two sleds, a deck, gear, and possibly more than two guys in the cab.

And definitely run an E rated tire. The Dodges are sensitive to softer sidewalls when loaded up. They will wander and your steering will be a lot worse.

Gear 300lbs
Sled deck 400lbs (aluminum)

Youre at 2000lbs and probably very close to the limit.

It won't look bad, handling will be ok, the diesel won't notice the extra weight performance wise but I can't see you being within your legal weight rating unless:

You have 1/4 tank of diesel left, sleds are pros with fuel tank nearly empty, truck and sleds have no snow or ice on them and the deck is lightweight aluminum

You forgot to put fuel in the truck.

Curb weight doesn't include that. So you are good as long as you don't leave the drive way.

I run a 06 3500 short box and I have about 300lbs to play with you might be over a bit

450lbs/sled??? Weighed like arctic cat and Polaris doo? No fluids and seat removed and shocks removed? And no storage bags full of tools etc? I'm guessing true weight would be about 600+lbs /sled, loaded the way most of us ride them and full of gas... This would already put u over gvwr.....

There's no way the two sleds only weigh 900lbs. I would think 1100lbs is a more accurate estimation.

I was guessing over 600 lbs per sled, full of gas, with full small jerry can and storage tunnel boxes full of tools or whatever, and spare belt etc...
